*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Ahh ok, thanks. Is there a difference in the dish? I have the 2 Coax cables into the back of the HD box currently, will that change? Are more cables required for the mini box that will be upstairs?
The LNB on the dish will be changed and if your dish is older than 2-3 years they'll need to change the dish anyway. Cabling remains but some will swap it to be safe anyway. Mini box is entirely self contained. Connects wirelessly or by Ethernet to the main box and that's it. It has no sat feeds or hard drive, it's all done by the main box.

Sky customer service is now horrendous. It's a total brick wall. The online chat is never available, no one answers the app messages for hours on end... and if I call them the computer lady tells me that they are currently training their staff and the call will take over 40 minutes to get through.

Tell me about it, Sky has by far the worst telephone support I've ever encountered. I came very close to cancelling just because trying to speak to someone is like pulling nails.

I got offered a deal to move my phone and broadband over and I told the rep that I couldn't risk having all my services with Sky as the customer service is so bad. I'm genuinely happy enough to pay a little extra knowing that when I call BT they will at the very least answer me in less than 3/4 an hour.

Was considering going with Sky again but just not sure its worth it. Has anyone moved to Now TV? How do they find it content wise compared to full fat Sky?

No recording available to you have to rely on catch up if you're not ready for when a show is on. Live is 720p tops. What package were you thinking about? I have 50% off any Original, Variety or Box sets for 18m?

Looking at the entertainment and movie passes. Not interested in sports or the kids stuff to be honest

So Box Sets for £19pm and then Movies for £10pm I'm sure using my deal. Need to keep movies for 18m to get it at £10pm though.

Hi Misschief, do you have any deals for existing customers? My notice is due 16thNov. Im looking for Q 2tb with boxsets, multiroom and movies. Im happy to let the contract expire if i can get a better deal in my wifes name after. Thanks.

Only for a free Sky Q 2TB & half price Mini upgrade if you don't already have multiscreen. Everything else is for new customers.

Signed back up with Sky, dropped the Virgin experiment and quite happy.

Did it all on live chat, seemed to work well. Sky Originals bundle, full Sky Sports and Sky Q box for £35 per month (18 month contract). Had to get them to go back and run the numbers three times to get to a price I was happy with.

They couldn't get anywhere on the broadband so I've signed up to BT infinity and took their £18 a month deal for 12 months (should get about 35mb, fine for me).

Think I did ok, sure others have got better - but did feel I haggled a lot for me.

Well, Sky contract came to an end today and yesterday virgin equipment turned up. Set everything up and have to say, I was a bit worried about the UI as the old TiVo box was dreadful, but the V6 box is very quick and seems well laid out. Also it's less than half the size of the Sky+ box. Sky only managed to offer 10% on Sky Q, so let the notice run out.

Hi MissChief, that is kind of what I am after I think. I am in the cancel process at moment, but ideally want a decent discount, but also Sky Q too, but they won't do decent offers on the Q.

I am unable to send you a message for some reason. It keeps telling me I need to log in?

Thanks In advance.

Its because you're a new member, just signed up. Once you've had 100 posts or been a member for 3 months I can send you a code.

Thanks for getting back to me. For some reason my account registered in 2005 no longer works. I will try and get it re-activated.

I am starting to come to terms with the idea of letting Sky contract expire, especially since I have now moved broadband (that was the important one!).

EDIT: Just checked, I am using the same username, so I guess that account has gone now. Oh well, I will be well out of service in 3 months. Looks like I'll be enjoying terrestrial for a year or so.

I checked the cancel status with online chat and the cancellation I'd put through last week had not gone through for whatever reason? That is pretty poor, if I had not checked I would not be leaving. I have decided I have now spent too much time to just get to this point and asked her to retain the 27th Nov leave date originally specified. All this hassle trying to sort out a price has now put me in the frame of mind to just cancel and save my money. The call waits are something else, some of the worst I have experienced. I guess the Sky support center is pretty light on staff?

Hi this is my first post so please forgive me if i'm not posting in right place. Just cancelled sky after 50% off for a year ended. Done this for a few years now and they've always contacted me before notice ran out and given me a deal to stay. This time though when i gave notice i was offered 30% off for a year on a 12 month contract which i ignored so on the 10th Oct i was cut off. Tried live chat after a few days and said best offer he could do was 40% off for 12 months with no contract and a £25 credit. my package was box sets plus sports HD. I asked about a Q box but he said he couldn't do offer as that was a different department but if i agreed to new deal he would transfer me to them. I decided to hold out so he ended chat. So now 3 weeks and nothing from them so i wondered if anyone else had been through this and could offer advice. Been with them for 27yrs and not been able to use sky plus box for recording is a real pain! Would welcome any views.

Data point, had sky Q with extra multi room box from a deal last year, box sets and sports HD, which was £35 a month. Cancelled 6 weeks ago and it went offline 2 weeks ago. Best offer they made was for £52 a month, a 50% discount supposedly. They offered this 2 weeks before it went offline and no correspondence from them since.

I turned it down and went instead with the current Virgin Media offer which has £250 quidco on the VIP bundle (2 boxes, same as sky in that respect). Get everything I was getting with sky incl BT sport in HD effectively for £35 a month (it's £90, then the £250 cashback reduces this to £70 and as I was paying £35 for VM broadband standalone anyway the delta for the TV is £35).

Had got used to Q, but the virgin box does certain things better - favourites menu, ability to go back to the EPG in the menu selection you were just in rather than main menu, dedicated last channel button on remote.

I like to watch the footie and given sky charge £30.99 for BT sport in HD I consider this a bargain.
