Just picked up a 1700X for £227 from a competitor, seems AMD has a euro sale on? couple of sites have it for that price it seems also the other models cheaper, 1700 for £206, 1600 for £136 etc. Anyhow last part i needed so tomorrow i'll slap it together, got 3400mhz Ram (Ripjaws), CH6 Mobo, 256gb NVME, 250GB Sammy 850 and 500GB Sammy 850 and an Arctic Freezer 240 AIO.. will give my 4770k to my kids, just need Vega 64 Custom Partner cards now and im set :)

Thanks, I will give it a try. It never did this before and as said was working fine until trying it today.

Well I tried this and it made no difference.

Now completely at random it booted up (albeit nothing until the Windows login screen... helpful.... :o).

Now to see if it will boot from cold or not.

Bonkers performance for the money. 18 months ago this much processing power was circa £1200.

Oh, I think you might have Fast Boot on in the BIOS, disable that if you can.
If it booted at random it does sound like it was a memory training issue, for some reason it couldn't complete that phase previously.

So, I got my RAM apparently stable at 3466, with ok timings. GSAT 1 hour, passed. 600% HCI Memtest passed.

However, I left my PC running overnight doing extra long HCI memtest and this morning, 4000% or so, had loads of errors. I have been gaming most of today without issues.

Whats the symptoms of overheating RAM? Or could it be the CPU overclock causing errors....Might just ignore it, seems solid for my usage.....

@chroniclard What do you mean by loads of errors? Some info on that would be helpful.
It's possible they're intermittent errors which generally show up after very long runs of memtest. Though getting 4000% overnight seems somewhat impossible with 16 threads, usually you should only get to 1000~1500% if you used 16 threads each with ~900MB.
Most RAM ICs have an operating temp of up to 85C so I doubt you were running into heat related issues.

@oweneades
I'm running out of ideas, but maybe try to resea the RAM, maybe try with 1 stick at a time and see anything like that works.
May be a silly suggestion, but are you sure the monitor cables are properly plugged in? HDMI sometimes for me slips out of the GPU connector for some reason (crappy cable).

Thanks AndreiD. I have tried your suggestions with no effect sadly. I have also tried with both HDMI and DP but no change.

I have raised a webnote so will see where that goes.

The latest version of HCI is a lot quicker, I've done a few thousand overnight with 16T doing 1800Mb. No errors for me, I found I was getting problems and put air over the RAM, seem to get to >60C in closed case, with air ~35C.

I have the latest version of HCI though, I'm not sure how you'd get a "a few thousand" overnight on 1800MB per thread no less. 1000% maybe, but a few thousand ... I'm not sure.
And that's weird, the RAM should be fine at those temperatures.

I have the pro/paid version, dunno if its quicker but running 16 x 850mb overnight(around 7-8 hours) will give over 4000%.

By errors I mean HCI detects an error....600% was fine longer, gave errors.

Will do more tweaking, up the voltage a bit, its only 1.42 at the moment. :)

I use the pro version too, it's not that much faster from what I've tried, guess speed also depends on RAM settings and such since I have mine set at 2933Mhz with C16 right now.

Getting errors during long runs does show that you still need to tweak a little bit, sounds like you're close to being stable. Intermittent errors are the worst kind since they take long runs to find and can still crash your apps and cause other issues randomly.

1700, 1700X and 1800X prices back up now. The rainforest place which price matched the former is also back up. 1600 and 1600X still remain low for now.

I think these were temporary cuts. The other place was simply being pricematched.
