**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Gotta say that sucks a little. Early adopters get the bugs and premium price.

It's nice they do price reductions and stuff but so soon they really should honour the fan base that dived in on launch and supported them even if it was Google play vouchers or credit.

Sure it would be nice to get a voucher or credit but isn't it quite usual to offer discounts around the Holiday season? I assume the discount stops at the end of December. I noticed that a discount is also being applied to the new Pixelbooks too which is really tempting me.

Google have dropped their prices by £100 for the XL models.

Keep the good ideas coming Google.

Lol.. I just sent back my first one because they dropped the price by £50 the week after I got it. Can't believe they've dropped it another £50!! How about just launching at a reasonable price to start with Google???

We could by another Pixel 2 XL now it's been discounted....:D:D

I'm almost tempted to return my second unit for the further £50 saving, but for the facts that I haven't received my first refund yet AND it is a lottery in terms of screen quality. The second unit I got has less blue shift but a small white patch in the middle. So not sure.

The price drops seem to have positioned the Pixel 2's in a better place in the market now. I am still looking for the next phone to replace my aging N5X. The top runner was the 1+5T but people on here do not rate the camera at all. At £529 the pixel 2 is looking attractive for the first time. I do have concerns about the 2700mah battery though, I have read people on here saying battery life is good, but it's hard to distinguish if they own a P2 or P2XL. My N5X won't last a morning with average use (I regularly get about 1hour screen on time before needing to charge again), so good battery life is up there for me as a top feature, do people with the P2 (not XL) find themselves reaching for a charger during the day ?

Are there any issues connecting a Pixel 2 to an Apple laptop or desktop? Do you have to use Android File Transfer? The recent price drop has put this back into contention along with the 1+5T.

I had another play with a Pixel 2 XL last night in CPW. The price did tempt me and I wouldn't lose much on my Pixel XL when selling it in the MM, but I just can't bring myself to accept that screen. I know I'll get instant buyer's remorse.

The P2 (Non XL) Battery is far superior to the N5X. I've not long switched from the N5X to the P2 and I'm regularly finishing the day with 60% remaining. I even leave all location services on the P2 where as everything was off on my 5X. I've seen as much as 6hrs+ SOT from my P2 but that was mainly at home on WiFi. You could buy it and if you aren't happy, Use the returns feature after if still unhappy.

Nexus 5X battery life isn't comparable to the Pixel (1 & 2).

My Nexus 5x was appalling, the battery wouldn't last a day out. My pixel 2 is still on 39% however with nearly 3hrs SoT and I last charged it Saturday morning.

If you aren't comparing side by side you'd quickly get used to it unless you got a really dud panel I reckon

Exactly, everyone I have shown the phone to likes the look of it a lot. Any perceived screen issue is more than made up for by the fantastic software experience. Each to their own, obviously, but I'd rather have a worse screen (but still good) and a top class software experience than the other way around.

5.5 hours SoT on mine with most of that not on Wi-Fi and after being off charge from 6am its usually still got at least 10% left by bed at half tenish. The battery life is stunning.

Thanks for the replies on battery, seems its a damn sight better than the n5x. I reckon with my moderate use it easily would last over a day. I'm going to pop into CPW on the way home to have a little play, bet I come out with £529 less in my bank account.

Everyone has unlimited backup on the lower res (1600 by 1200?) but the Pixel has it on everything. The device always keeps max res.

The screen is better on the xl2 than the XL. I have both and hate going back to the XL now. Kind of feels a bit yellow and the resolution is not as sharp
