January Transfer Window 2017/18

I appreciate they're different players but as I said, 5 months ago you were targeting Lemar and now it's Auba, Malcom and Mikhi. It's just a surprise that you went so big for him but have now completely moved on to other targets.

It's also surprising that we've seemingly not made another move for Lemar either. Whether that be because the price has gone a long way north of the £60m odd we were prepared to pay in the summer or because we've switched targets I've no idea. I do wonder though whether we'll see Liverpool make a move as soon as this Sanchez business is sorted. Utd and yourselves were both also linked with him and if Utd get Sanchez and you blow your load on Auba & Malcom, we might have a free run at Lemar and get him cheaper.

According to bbc arsenal havnt made any approach for aubameyang

tbh arsenal are good at keeping deals out the public limelight, always have been whilst wengers been at the healm I wouldn't take that to mean anything

same as when we buy players its always undisclosed fees

Yea, I've literally not seen a single article reporting that you're after Auba ;)

And in 99% of deals the fees are undisclosed. The press still get briefed rough figures and report them though.

Yea, I think that applies to pretty much every club. Everybody knew Liverpool wanted VVD and would have been talking with Southampton but the announcement pretty much came out of the blue.

5 month ago we diddnt have the new team of scouts etc we recently got from Dortmund

I have a feeling no one will be in for Lemar anytime soon unless he’s really cheap.

He’s having a pretty crap season at Monaco by the looks of it. So his stock has tumbled big time. So I’d be surprised if anyone took a punt on him.

The money being talked about for him is insane and you can see why City have dropped out, doesn't improve them much (if at all) and would I believe be a detriment to the team, whereas Utd are desperate to make a statement and they overpay on most (if not all) transfers, not sure how he will fit at Utd as he doesn't seem interested in doing the leg work Jose demands from his players so could end up not playing and earning £400k a week (winner for him, not much so for Utd)
City have spent more on defenders who are not proven!

And, the point is they aren't towards the end of their careers and had a pretty poor 12 months, not sure how anyone can justify the money Sanchez is looking at when you take his form over the last 12 months into account (heck even Rooney has outperformed him this season).

Either way I'm not really that bothered as I don't support Utd, City or Arsenal I just cannot for the life of me see the reasoning some people are saying he's a bargain.

Last year champions, this year? Yep, regressed.
And in comparison remind me how Utd have done in the league over the last four years?

The only way for them was up lol

So one still fighting year in and year out for the title. The other having one good premiership run in five years. And you think Chelski are the club in decline? Wow, can't argue with your logic lol

It doesn't matter how much contract is left. In fact it is fully justified fee because if he had 2 years or more left he be worth close to 100m easily

I haven't mentioned his contract, I said career as he is 29 and had a poor 12 months, only points towards a downward trend.

I really don't care, don't think he's value for money at all and the reason I no longer get all that bothered about football anymore is because of the way money has ruined the game.

Transfer spend is a gauge of how ambitious a club is to attempt to push on. United are constantly linked with signing the likes of Griezman, Chelsea seem more interested in signing the likes of Danny Drinkwater and Andy Carroll.

At risk of going around in circles, the facts are the facts, look at last seasons performance compared to this. United have improved, Chelsea the opposite.

Sanchez obviously agrees with me considering he's off to OT :p

Yes Utd have improved. If they went further down the league after spending all that money I would be worried.

Being linked with big players isn't a sign of being ambition. Signing big players and winning or nearly winning the league is a sign of ambition. Which if you are honest, Chelski are the only one competing at the top.

Utd are having one good season in five, that isn't a great indication of proof they are back to their best.

The truly best players on the market aren't going to be looking much further than biggest teams from each league. City are that big club currently.

At Utd you will get good players because of the club but they won't sign the best any time soon. If Sanchez wants a crack at the title and play football, Chelski are the best option.

If he wants to play more and maybe a cup run, then Utd or stay with Arsenal.

I have no desire to explain it over and over, if you can't see that Chelsea have slipped back this season then well, yeah, nothing more to say about it.

Let's just say I disagree with this, and leave it at that.

We are currently of equal standing to Chelsea IMO. They seem very unsteady, despite being better over the past few seasons. Conte will likely be going in the summer by the sound of it and they need a number of new players.

Lukaku was wanted by Chelsea and joined us, Pogba was the most highly rated midfielder of his type in the world and Real Madrid wanted him too. Even if you'll say the reason was purely down to money, we still got him. Nobody dreamed of playing for Man City, but they have established themselves as a modern footballing power using money and are doing fine.

City as it stands are well ahead of everyone, but to start making claims like Man Utd won't sign the best players anytime soon is wishful thinking. We are about to sign one of the top players in the league by the sound of it.

According to the sun Liverpool are after Malcolm if so can't see arsenal getting a look in

I think Arsenal have backed out due to Mkhitaryan.
