January Transfer Window 2017/18

Yes Utd have improved. If they went further down the league after spending all that money I would be worried.

Being linked with big players isn't a sign of being ambition. Signing big players and winning or nearly winning the league is a sign of ambition. Which if you are honest, Chelski are the only one competing at the top.

Utd are having one good season in five, that isn't a great indication of proof they are back to their best.

The truly best players on the market aren't going to be looking much further than biggest teams from each league. City are that big club currently.

At Utd you will get good players because of the club but they won't sign the best any time soon. If Sanchez wants a crack at the title and play football, Chelski are the best option.

If he wants to play more and maybe a cup run, then Utd or stay with Arsenal.

He could also end up back in what was it 10th 3 seasons ago with Chelsea, so not all that gaurenteed either
Chelsea's worst finishing position in the last 5 years is still worse than Utd
The major reason Chelsea won the league last season was because they had far more rest between games thanks to no European games at all - oh look Liverpool had similar amounts of rest in that season and they performed better than usual too......co-incidence, not at all.

Man Utd may not be as powerful / successful as they were in the 90's / 2000's but they also aren't anywhere near as bad as you want to make out (and that's after an aging squad has been shipped out and multiple manager changes trying to create their own squad failed - and then JM came on board and was a reasonable success straight away. Now JM has signed a new contract (if the reports are true) Utd are only going to get stronger

Utd aren't clear of Liverpool /Chelsea yet, but we are going in the right direction (from 2 years ago, even from last year)

Liverpool are 1 point better off than at this stage last season. Liverpool performed better than usual because we were a better side than we were in previous seasons and as I said 12 months ago, the extra games we've had to play this season will be countered out by the extra money we'll invest in our squad as a result of being in the CL.

Chelsea last season were an exception to the rule because they had a CL quality squad without the extra games. That said, to say it was the major reason is pushing it just a little. Chelsea comfortably outperformed every other side and even with the added fixtures you'd have fancied them to have won the league.

Mike apparently wants to go back to dortmund

Id say the deal is dead and by that i mean sanchez to utd also

I did call it a few pages back, Wenger will not be forced to pay a player £300k by his agent. For all of Wengers faults, I can’t fault him on that. And if Raiola thinks he can get away with scamming Arsenal...good luck to him lol

I reckon Sanchez will stay till summer then make his move to City rather than Utd.

That’s where he’s going.

Yep that’s what I’ve always believed that Auba would go to Real, he’s said it himself that after Dortmund he wants to go to Real. It’s just a matter of when really.

Reading all of the reports from those in the know, I'd be surprised if it didn't happen now. It makes sense for all involved parties, but of course Raiola won't just roll over and take an average deal. Arsenal won't have to pay £300k a week, he's not on close to that at Man Utd.

In 2009 Mkhitaryan said in a UEFA interview that his favourite team was Arsenal, so he probably wants the move. Don't forget that this was initially suggested by Raiola weeks ago, he's not stupid and he knows he can't demand the sort of money from Arsenal that he could elsewhere.

Can’t we swap Alexis for Mikhi, then use Mikhi in a deal for Auba?

Sanchez has to go now. The rest of the Arsenal squad hate him and do not want to play with him ever again.

Some more snippets on the PEA story. According to reports, his father (who is also his agent) has flown into London to discuss terms with Arsenal and in another possible sign, an Arsenal fan whose on Twitter has shared a photo of Jens Lehmann who was on the same plane as him returning to London, from..........you’ve guessed it, Dortmund.

Oh, and check this post on goonersworld, I think we’ve found Tony Williams https://www.goonersworld.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=31656

The battle between Raiola & Utd/Arsenal takes another twist. Utd are now briefing the press that they could still sign Sanchez even if the Mkhitaryan deal doesn't happen - basically saying take it or leave it to Raiola/Mkhitaryan:

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...rikh-mkhitaryan-sale-arsenal?CMP=share_btn_tw

A little snippet on the value of the deal in that article too - transfer, agent and signing on fee will be totally around £60m. It would be interesting to know if the £20m or so of that, which is going to Sanchez, has been factored into the reports of a £350-400k wage or if it's in addition to that. If it's the latter then **** me.

It would be in Arsenal's favour to back up that story and tell Raiola they'll sell him to Utd without Mkhitaryan.

There are numerous reports emerging from all over that the deal is edging ever closer (rather than the opposite), both clubs want it finalised so the players can be registered in time for Saturday. Every game counts.

Marko Grujic has joined Cardiff on loan. I'd have rather he went to a PL side but regular game time is the most important thing and he'd only ever play 1 in 4 at a PL side because he'll get sent off every time he plays.

But earlier reports states Mkhitaryan does not want to move to arsenal?

Is it arsenal who want him or united trying to sweeten the deal by offering him to us?

What reports are they?

I think it's both.
reports as far as yesterday saying he doesnt want to come to arsenal.

well if arsenal want him(cant believe that as this is the first time arsenal ever mentioned him) and united dont mind offering him a part of the deal then lets go ahead and make it happen? what is the delay?

Mhiki wants more money and so does his agent

Walcott signs a 3.5yr deal with Everton & leaves Arsenal 12 years to the month after joining from Southampton, finishing with 3 FA Cups & 108 goals in 397 apps. #EFC football/financial offer beat rivals + Walcott keen to work under Allardyce. #AFC plan to use funds to reinvest

Never quite lived up to expectations but he's a nice guy and I hope he does well at everton.

Now spend dat money Arsene!!

Yes but what reports? Sources are important.

The delay is because a swap deal is complex so will take some sorting out, throw Raiola into the mix and it's even more complicated.
