The guy had a gas mask on and smoke grenades. He set off the fire alarm to draw more kids out into the corridors so it was easier for him to gun them down.

He bought the gun legally too.

Oh, I forgot the other thing, every time NRA/Republicans scream the democrats will take their guns away.... gun sales go up from the idiots who think democrats will take their guns away so run out to 'stock up'. So the guy who has a couple assault rifles and 3 handguns panics and buys 5 more and 3 years of ammo.

The last part sums it up pretty well, a while back a company started buying up gun companies, Remington included wanting to turn it into an IPO for a stupid mega gun corporation called Freedom group (lol) . It went bad for many reasons, Remington are being sued massively, Bushmaster were linked to Sandyhook via the guns and basically the group never turned it into an IPO. They leveraged for a takeover of multiple companies hoping to profit from the IPO, without that all they had was debt. Remington is going down because it was mismanaged.

page 7, Firearms and ammunition industry was worth 19billion in 2008, it's worth 51billion today. May sales have gone down in 2017 without idiots rushing to arm themselves for a potential democratic removal of guns as a right, sure, probably not much of a dent though, the health of the guns and ammo business is not an issue, Remington being involved in a leveraged take over without the payoff of the public offering is the issue. They also have some huge settlements to deal with, so allowing Remington to go bankrupt, allowing the other companies they bought to buy all the assets would potentially get them out of all their settlements and future settlements... so that could also be a reason for it to happen.

This also says if you scroll down to the top producers that the markershare in various brackets in 2015 compared to 2014 showed massive declines for remington, almost 19% down in 2015 while Smith and Wesson were 10% up. Remington is not the average gun most people buy, they are big in rifles and shotguns, shotguns down for the three biggest producers but Remington down 17% in rifle while Savage Arms were up 25%.

Remington is a symbol of a company whose products aren't selling well, who are involved in class action civil suits about their products and who had a leveraged take over sticking debt all over the company. The gun industry is closing in on 2.5x bigger than only a decade ago.

They are going to need a lot of emotional support peacocks and hamsters after this one.....

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, I'll also change my Facebook profile picture for a day or two. God bless America.

America is so backward,

On CNN they just played real video footage from inside the classroom (of kids being gunned down), with the gunshots, everything, (albeit some of it blurred) but they bleeped out the swear words,

It's like - hours old video footage of children been blown away = acceptable to broadcast
Some swearing = unacceptable to broadcast

It's a backward, weird, broken place.

Every American movie you watch is awash with people getting beaten to a pulp and gunfire galore. It's completely embedded in their culture. I'm actually amazed that the suspect is in custody and hasn't been shot dead.

Cue calls for 'thoughts and prayers' response, whilst multiple gun lobbyists are interviewed saying there's no need for gun control reform. And repeat in 6-12m.

Sad state of affairs. Just hope the bugger will spend the rest of his days rotting in jail, rather than get the death penality (if anyone saw the Trevor McDonald show recently they have real prisons in America)

Not even
Shocked anymore sadly

This really, it says something when 17 kids are murdered and it's so common place that it has zero impact. I've said before they will never change until someone important has their kid killed, until then only the $$$ matter.

This is the 4th School Shooting this year. That's 2 per month. The last big one only resulted in 2 deaths, but 21 was shot, but that guy only had a pistol.

I said this before and some others I have seen already have said the same thing is that the problem is their culture around guns, not the guns themselves.

They need to somehow fix that gun culture problem while also reviewing and mending any gun laws they have.

According to things I have read is that this kid was already "red tagged" whatever that means and he was banned for carrying a backpack at the school, plus his classmates and the people who known him, know it would be him.

He never should never been allowed access to any sort of firearms and any he legally bought before all this should had been removed.

This is the same problem that occurs over here when we talk about the Bulger killers. Society creates winners and losers, sometimes these losers fall off the deep end and react in a bad way.

Whenever there is a tragedy like this we always see and hear the same tripe. Guy was a loaner, he struggled at school, might have been bullied a bit or came from a bad family. Either way the warning signs are always clear to see, society just chooses to ignore them and carry on regardless until the inevitable happens.

I can't even find it in myself to care that much as they ask for it year after year through their absurd gun obsession.

Horrible for the families but no doubt this will happen again in the next year.
