*** Nintendo Switch ***

It looks like the Doom update didn't just add gyro controls and fix bugs, it greatly improved the graphics (resolution and framerate) too.

Outlast just released on the eShop today and includes the DLC. Initial impressions seem to be that it's a good port.

Some footage here

Added to wishlist :). I frequently pondered buying this game on Steam but never got around to it. Outlast 2 is due out end of March apparently.

Rocket League has also had a bump looks a lot less jaggy now.

It's getting another update in a month or two with some big technical improvements, with the option to choose between performance and quality modes

https://www.rocketleague.com/news/rocket-league-roadmap-spring-2018/

  • Switch Performance & Visual Quality Updates
    • Performance Mode - 900p (Docked) / 720p (Handheld) @ 60 FPS with infrequent dynamic resolution scaling
    • Quality Mode - Native 1080p (Docked) / 720p (Handheld) @ 30 FPS with added visual effects

Same here, hunt around for a deal (I think I saw one on Eurogamer earlier). The savings second hand aren't worth the risk imo.
I got a neon switch with Mario kart and Mario Odessey for £260 hardly used.

Although I got a good deal as I swapped my Xbox one with 5 games for it just need to charge it up more

How do I check if the console software is up to date?

Digital foundry or whoever does the technical reviews of games has had a look over doom and their general impression is that doom has been improved very slightly graphically but not by much. On the other hand, people who actually play the game for the funs seem to say it has made a big difference.

Not sure if thats a typo Phate but isn't it Puyo Puyo Tetris?

Digital Foundry is an infuriating company who seem only focused on one thing, FPS & Resolutions. They don't seem to give a toss about anything else. I have seen many people online state it feels like big improvements and much better gameplay. People like DF are actually bad for the industry IMO.

But anyway, rant aside. Yes that is a typo :D - I couldn't remember the correct spelling.

Well I booted Doom up after the update and was showing someone at work and noticed straight away that everything was a lot less muddy looking. DF might be right in their analysis but even to my old eyes it definitely looks to have improved. Gyro aiming is a bit of a game changer too. I used to struggle with it (Splatoon 2), now I look to see if I can enable it off the bat.

BTW I just read a pretty damning review of Payday 2. Lazy port, fugly and too expensive. http://metro.co.uk/2018/02/27/payday-2-switch-review-daylight-robbery-7344518/

Are you suggesting the devs rather than making real effort for a worthy port were instead just looking to cash in on a quick & easy Payday? :D
