Need help please lads!

Chaps, ive been asked to put together a presentation for work over the weekend and need to use the pc. Im going to pick up a PSU and hope it works.

Im going tonget one on amazon prime, is a 600w ok for my system?

600w will be fine for the time being if you're in a hurry, but it is the minimum requirement for a 1080ti, personally id give myself a bit of headroom.

Evening chaps,

Overclockers tested the PSU and found no fault???

Im going to call them in the morning and see what they suggest i do next.

At a total loss now.

The MB has the VGA fault light lit, the little leds where the power connectors plug into the gpu dont light up. I had them replace the GPU and same issue.

The psu isnt faulty???

I should have bought it pre built, atleast then i could have returned the entire unit.

Nope I was stuck on the CPU and RAM LED, both were on together. to clear the CMOS its just 2 tiny little pins that you have to short, you don't have to put any pressure on anything, just lightly touch them with something metal, or grab some jumper caps off ebay or an old motherboard or something to short them, my 2 pins are just above the 1st PCI-e x16 slot, you'll have to check your manual for where yours are.

Im going to try this when i get my psu back.

The Psu isnt faulty and oc are returning it, god knows whats wrong.

Stupid question but im assiming you need to be powered on to do this?

No, power off, remove the kettle lead, press the power button a few times to drain the capacitors, then clear the cmos with the pins for about 10 seconds, plug back in the lead and switch on.

Ok mate, I will have the PSU back early next week, will give it ago then and see what happens, I will let you know how I get on.

Do you just link both pins with a piece of metal for 10 seconds? Do I take the battery out?

No need to take the battery out, and yes just link the 2 pins together, some things work and some things don't, for instance a kitchen knife didn't work for me, but my car key did, so try a couple of thing, if your PC is down now without a PSU in it, then there is no harm in clearing the cmos with the jumper pins now.

Sorry chaps been very busy.

I ended up getting the PSU back and then sent back the CPU, RAM and Motherboard. After testing they found the Motherboard was faulty amd not posting. So it seems like it was the motherboard all along. Im now waiting for a replacment to be sent out and hopefully that is the saga over......... hopefully:)

I need your help mate. Over clockers sent me a brand new mother board and CPU. I rebuilt the pc today and everthing was working fine. I noticed straight away my case fans werent spinning so I shut the system down and gad a look in side to see if they were connected and i couldnt remeber gow I originally connected them?? How do i connect them??

I decided to restart the machine and now it wont boot it say "reboot amd select.proper boot device or insert boot media" ive gone into the bios and set my ssd as priority 1 but it still doesnt work.

Please Help!!!!!!!

Hey bud, as I recall you had Pure 600 case was it ?

Those fans are connected yes to the cases own controller , which is powered via a sata power cable

Could be sata cable gone or port .
Try another cable and move to a different port .

Also pull the CMOS battery/board batt for 5 mins and out back

Hi Mate,

The case was be quiet 600 i think and the fans do link back to the controller on the front.

What do mean by sata cable, i dont remeber this from when i first built the machine, where dose this go? From where to where? I will try the battery and see what happens.

Cheers mate

The case fans have 3 pin connectors , they are plugged into the case controller , but to power the fans , the controller draws its power from a sata power connector , otherwise they can't be powered unless you connect them direct into the board.
At the back of the case, follow all the case leads coming from the front/top connection ports. Should find the lead for the fan controller that needs to plug into a lead from the PSU

God I feel proper stupid!!!! Found the SATA cable, plugged it in and fans work!!

Tried the battery but that didnt work so i went back into the bios and the boot order hadnt saved!!! Changed boot order and eveything is now working:):):):):):)

Thanks for your help along the way!!

I think its worth mentioning the Overclockers after sales is very good. They sent me a brand new mother board ratger than wait for gigabyte and then DPD lost my CPU and they sent me a new one straight away, no hassel!

Hopefully that the end of the problems, thanks again
