Just an FYI, you need to set the PS4 to 1080p in the display settings. And the game runs smooth as butter. With minimal fan noise

Popped my Xbox into performance mode and can barely hear it, in 4k it's like a jet.

Do you get 1080p @60 if you lock frame rate?

It feels like 60fps, and yeah I’ve got the frame rate locked in the NMS settings menu.

Thanks will try it out tomorrow in 1080p, shame as it looks nice in 4k apart from the odd graphical glitches, but the fans are so noisy and distracting.

Frame rate lock caps it to 30fps, unlocked is 60fps, and I certainly wouldn’t call it smooth, fps is all over the place.

The performance is terrible since this 1.50 update, constant stutters and often freezing when approaching planets (PS4 Pro). The freezing is horrendous as the sound makes a big “brrrrr” noise, whilst it sorts itself out.

Seen some reports of frame rate dropping to 10fps , frame rate lock it is then.

Does this also happen in the 1080p mode?

I have just tried 1080p with frame lock, and the PS4 pro fans do not ramp up constantly like in 4k mode, so Im sticking with 1080p for now, still looks nice.

I noticed as well that I get HDR in 1080p still, I always thought that was just in 4k mode?

I've got a 4K tv, 1080p kinda defeats the point which is frustrating when it was working fine pre-patch.

Yeah its annoying, I personally find 1080p looks ok still though, hopefully they can fix some of these issues soon, the fan noise and frame rate is the biggest issue for me in 4k mode, not had any crashes yet (touch wood), I started a new save. A lot of people who seem to get a lot of issues and crashes seem to be on old saves.

Tried it again today and managed an hour before I was bored of mining things all the time. I’m sure it’s a good game but I find it so tedious I just can’t get into it.

Haven't played this since 2016. Put about 2 hours into it last night and it's a completely different game.

I'm up to the part where I need to get around 90000 money to buy parts for a hyperdrive.

My only annoyance so far is that the starting planets are always hostile/toxic and ugly!!
