Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Hahahahahahhaha :D

Shaping up to be the worst GPU launch in history.

Still no performance numbers from Nvidia.

Most expensive cards ever, yeah awful so far.

And yet on the other discussion some say is AMD's fault because is not competing, effectively forcing people to buy overpriced Nvidia products

Even Forbes are saying do not buy Nvidia 20 series.. Wait for a proper upgrade seems to be the general consensus.

Don't pay inflated prices for marginal performance gains over the 10 Series. In fact, don't buy this new generation of GPUs from Nvidia at all, because there's something better coming.

If the prices weren't absolutely abhorrent it wouldn't be so bad. People would just be complaining a little wanting some numbers etc....

But the fact that the prices are what they are has us all saying "This better deliver something spectacular considering the price". If it fails to deliver then there are going to be a loooooot of angry people.

Yeah but you could say that about anything.. The price is the problem. These are the prices Nvidia set. More than double the card it replaces in some cases. ASUS 2080 Ti like £1500?!

With no performance numbers. Nvidia being shady / greedy as usual..

Madness.

Bank balance goes up with RTX on.....thought it would show the line going down
It is referring to Jensen's bank balance, not the buyers :D

He is showing his bank balance, otherwise it would read "your bank balance" if it was to be what you think it should be.

Bit of a fallacy in that article mind - I have to point it out:

Check out the unimpressive CUDA core increase over the 10 Series.

Only applies if you are comparing the exact same architecture and usually you can't unendingly just increase core counts anyhow (though slightly less of an issue these days).

Yuck the EVGA card/s look terrible. They've got successively uglier since the Maxwell generation.

On topic; I do think this could be one of Nvidia's worse launches ever:

  • Reveal was 90 minutes of smoke and mirrors and trolling their own customers with the price
  • Actual launch prices are laughable
  • They show off a **** looking demo of Tomb Raider at HD resolution with tanked performance with RT on
  • They hid and continue to hide gaming performance

It was due, cos they've had a string of home runs helped in part by partisan press and fanboys.
