Gives me confidence for the next gen AMD cards being a decent upgrade for my 1070 and hopefully a half reasonable price.

With 500mhz disadvantage. If only they could get similar clock speeds like Nidia cards.

Also could you post here your wattman settings?

I just did a fresh windows install, no AB installed and it happens the same, maybe it's a bug but then it should happen to everyone. I think I've seen an AMD employee here in this forum, but don't remember his nickname.

But can you describe the bug? Because I do not have it.

If your card new or second hand? Have you tried the second bios? (there is a switch)

I know

Vega has very strong "IPC". Those 500mhz could be enough to beat clean the GTX1080Ti and the RTX2080.

Voltage on idle is 0.762V with power save, balanced and turbo profiles, but the moment I set a custom voltage, the card bumps it to 0.9V on idle after rebooting the system and wattman loads the voltage values I setted. If I do not reboot the system, idle voltage stays fine at 0.762V even with my custom voltages. So the bug consists in wattman setting a higher idle voltage (0.9V) when it autoloads my values.

My card is brand new, or it was, it's three months old or so now. I've not tried the second bios yet.

I get high's of around 1660 but the sustained clocks can be anywhere from the 1600's to 1630's. It varies a lot game by game, I was surprised by how much the running clock varies from game to game.

That's the beauty of water,

When I next do an upgrade that includes the platform I may try doing my first loop. If not that maybe an AIO gpu for a change.

I'm quietly confident they may get a fair bit more, especially on 7nm and if TSMC is higher quality chips.

Custom water is a big hassle even for me. Consider EK MLC solution. All the benefits, none the drawbacks.

@TonyTurbo78 I saw your Forza Horizon 4 benchmark. You need to start rendering at 144hz
It felt that I was gaming with the GTX1080Ti without Freesync.....

I wish i knew how to. Recordings look horrendous compared to how incredibly smooth the gameplay is. I don’t think Relive likes recording at 60fps when freesync is being used with an uncapped frame rate. I’ve always had that issue when recording, I’ve never been able to get excellent quality recorded footage unless I Limit my in game and recording settings to 60fps. There’s no way I’m gaming at 60fps on a 144hz freesync monitor though lol

Have you tried to use OBS Classic? It can go all way to 120hz.

Keep the rest of the settings as they are.

yep, tried them all, recording quality is pants on AMD in comparison to other methods. I even have a 144hz 4k Capture card which can record at 1440p144hz or 4k60 in my recording PC, and even with that I can't get crisp recordings. I have no idea how people get clear recordings, Ive been trying for around a year to work it out.

The only way I can get really nice quality with no stutter, is by capping fps to 60 and recording at 60. Even setting monitor to 120hz and recording at 60fps (better frame match every other frame) I cant get it smooth.

I liked the look of the Predator system and having now looked at the EK MLC kit you mentioned it seems that's the newer version of it, If they do one with a part for whatever gpu I get next I might try it, the only thing is I could only go with a two fan model, I could go for a 14cm 2 fan model if they do one, I'll definitely be looking into it when the time comes. With the EK MLC coolers could you use a two fan rad with pump and a 1 fan rad and pump in the same loop? Presumably it'd be okay as long as you have them both pushing in the same direction, Is that right?

1688 isn't possible, It defaults to 1687, I've run it at that and at 1692, Everything I tested was okay except Strange Brigade which was odd, Even SOTTR ran okay, I've run 1752 in 3dmark with stock volts & no artifacts but it's loud so it was only a one off bench test which didn't do much performance wise, mind you the memory was low at 1025. https://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/16246377/fs/16157378 I'll try tweaking the core clock a little higher with a bit more voltage to see if it does the trick without pushing the noise up to much. I want to get the best performance I can but I want it as quiet as possible so it's the balancing I need to get right. I'll be doing some gaming today so I'll try upping the clock a bit. Cheers.

Been playing with OBS a lot recently and getting it to work nicely with the AMD x.264 built in encoding. Seems to work well for recording once you have played with settings long enough, but I've had issues with Premiere Pro and After Effects more than the recording quality. If detail is required then using the Lossless or Indistinguishable presets and then using Handbrake to re-encode how you want afterwards is a viable solution.

Not sure how to get around the Freesync recording issue...

Thanks. I've now got the quality spot on, chinned off Relive and using OBS on the recording pc which has a 1080ti in it and my 4k capture card. Using OBS with the NVENC the quality is nice now and play back is definitely much better. But the upload to YouTube ruins the smoothness, it's weird.

Hi, I've been thinking about getting one of the Powercolor Red Devil Vega 64s, can anyone comment on the cooler size?

Currently using a standard 2 slot card, I do have an empty slot below that but the next one is occupied by a small pci-e card which would potentially be right next to one of the fans. There's nowhere else to move it to. Do you think it would be an issue?

just looked at mine and i would say you will be fine, it is a big cooler but you will have plenty of space for the fans
