Latest Gillette ad suggests their customers are broken, toxic and need "fixing" through feminism

The phrase 'boys will be boys' to me means they will get up to no good, cause mischief. Its never meant to me they have a free pass to be sexist, misogynist or whatever other 'ist' you want to apply.
Oh, ok. Letting boys off of bad behaviour because they're boys can't possibly resonate through their lives....

I like this la... person's take on it. https://twitter.com/CarolineHirons/status/1085140132225789957

"If @Gillette really want to make a change perhaps they could start by looking at their pink ‘Venus’ range for women that includes names like Passion and Embrace and costs more than the men’s ranges for the same thing. Thanks."

Personally I'm just sick of being lectured by adverts. How much plastic waste are Gillette responsible for adding to the planet? Having said that, I'm not sure I'd want a cardboard razor. :) But for the love of notional god, just cut the posturing.

It's sexist TBH.

We need men's razors to have similar names, like The Rigid Range, or The Penetrator, just to make it fair for men.

Your interpretation of the saying isn't universal by any means. I've seen it being used to justify domestic abuse. Boggles the mind.

I made the same points myself earlier on in the thread, it is just a superficial effort by a multinational to appear "woke" etc...

I'd recommend taking a look at Jonathan Pie's "oppression obsession" video for an amusing rant partially covering this sort of tokenistic corporate hijacking of social justice issues for marketing.

I don't want a razor called "the penetrator" thanks. I like a razor that doesn't do any penetrating :p

It applies to kids messing about, I think you should get a grip if you think anything different TBH.
People said it about Brett Kavanaugh trying to rape a girl whilst swigging a can of beer from each hand and playing the popular game 'Devils Triangle'.

I expect ****heads there laughed at the time too. But that awful incident doesn't mean that we should look down on other people for laughing at something totally different. This is why we are human, we are able to judge each situation on its own merits not lump everything into one.

People will make excuses for anything, it doesnt mean we should lose the actual meaning of things. You could argue making young boys lives sterile and boring will have a much worse effect in the long term.

Did those people also have words scribbled on their face? Clearly they're absolutely mental. Boys will be boys isn't even applicable to adult men.

This is exactly how I understand the saying - for anyone to try applying it as a valid excuse for bad activities, is just madness. It's a saying, nothing more, to rely on it as a defense is mental.

Which of those things are NEVER done by women? It's focusing on the minority of bad men (and fuelling identity groupings) when most of us are like the guys they portray in the latter half like you say. It doesn't need to be promoted, ********* just need to be put in their place whether they be gay/straight/male/female/whatever/etc

I agree that most of us probably are like the guys in the latter half of the video.

I also agree with your sentiment about ********* needing to be put in their place regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race etc.

However, because I identify with 'the good guys', I don't feel some moral outrage at the portrayal of the 'bad guys'; especially as I don't believe it's meant to represent all men and/or 'masculinity'. This seems to be the biggest difference between those being offended by it and those that aren't.

So they made an ad that solely appeals to radical feminists - a demographic notorious for NOT shaving.

Genuine lol from me. :D

So to my point, to be clear,. Moan moan moan then back to normal tomorrow.

It's not that hard to see why I have little time for constant butt hurt who do nothing about it but moan, who post on the internet and then go buy the product. You can make a stand, you can tell me you will never buy it again and fine, do that, it is your choice. But most won't and do you know what, I suspect you won't either.

Umm, you'd be wrong there. Like I said, I don't have much brand loyalty, it's easy to simply strike products off my shopping list and replace with others if I don't like the public face of the company or the way they do business. What other people do is up to them and to their own conscience, but I don't think I'm so special that I'm the only one who will do that.

If that's what you'd do, if you want to be "not bothered" but then come here to complain that everyone keeps buying the products they don't like, then I think that's you just projecting your own views on others.

That isn't how the short has been crafted though - it comes across as literally judging and acussing of everyone that are part of a specific gender and skin colour as being part of a problem group indiscriminately without knowing anything about them as individuals.

Like I said, that’s not how I interpreted it, hence I’m not offended by it.

They've clearly got the wrong leadership in place, his main audience are men yet he's more concerned with making his brand popular with feminists, crazy.
