Human v Chimp fight

"...and takes him down", well a 50kg Chimp took a 100kg prime Mike Tyson down pretty easily then. I think you maybe don't realise that a Chimp is half his size, he could throw 50kg around for fun, hell I could do that when I was training 5 times a week and I was no where near as strong as him.

A 50kg chimp would have Mike Tyson on the floor with no hands/eyes in seconds. They're insanely strong pound for pound and a "prime" Mike Tyson would stand zero chance against even a relatively small fully grown chimpanzee.

As I said earlier in the thread, in the gym? Bench press, deadlift, squat? Mike Tyson takes it.

A scrap outside Greggs at 3am on a Sunday morning? Sorry Mike but Bubbles is eating you butt hole first like you're a steak bake big man.

The guy in this video went head to head with a chimp and won and he is a lot smaller than vintage iron mike. Watch this video and get back to me. (starts at 50 seconds)

Guy telling a story about how he went head to head with a chimp and won.

Did I tell you about the time I knocked out a hippo in one punch? 100% true story.

Whilst it's impossible to know either way, I wouldn't be so sure - a chimp probably wouldn't be as strong as Mike Tyson (Chimps are around 1.3 to 1.5 times stronger than the average person) and Mike Tyson is not the average person, far from it.

Secondly, the Chimp wouldn't be able to man-handle someone like Tyson because he'd be too big and heavy, it would have to blind him - if it could do that, then it would probably be over very quickly, however - if someone with Tyson's strength and speed, could physically get hold of the chimp and man-handle it to the ground without being blinded, I think someone like Tyson could win very quickly, as he could crush it's wind pipe.

It would be ugly as hell, he'd almost certainly lose a finger or two and end up badly scratched and torn, and it would be an awful thing to try and do - but I'd argue that the right person, of sufficient size, strength and toughness - would stand a reasonable chance of winning.

A reasoned opinion of how things go down, good reply. However if it’s Tyson that the humans are selecting for this epic PPV event, I think it’s only fair that the CFF (Chimp Fighting Federation) can select their biggest toughest chimp to oppose him.

I just think people are underestimating how much “stronger” animals are than humans due to mentality and the make up of their muscle?

Have you ever tried to hold onto a cat or small dog when they don’t want to be held? Things are wildly strong pound for pound and then imagine that with opposable thumbs and weight 60-70kg.

Also, this thread has left with wildly behind with stuff I’ve got to do at work and at home :p

Yeah I mean that's fair enough, lol @ CFF, I wouldn't want to mess with its members.

I've actually read zoology for most of my life and was a wildlife photographer for a number of years, so I am definitely aware of how much stronger some animals are, big cats are on another level entirely, just a different universe of strength, power and speed.

Regarding Chimps vs Humans, maybe in a post Brexit apocalyptic wasteland, we'll end up with people doing this sort of stuff for fun inside ruined football stadiums late at night, until then - I'm not willing to test any theories myself lol.

Humans are (allegedly) gifted with smarts that allow use of environment, strategy and tools. Most Apes are gifted with muscle groups that favour explosive strength - we can exhibit similar strength, but it is the sort of event that will damage tendons, muscle and bone if prolonged. This sort of strength that people who are deemed 'crazy' or have a mental condition or drug-abused mind can show.

You must also remember that the Apes will have higher pain tolerance, and their limbs/hands/feet will be significantly tougher and denser than our, quite brittle frame, and fragile skin.

Still not sure why people are using Mike Tyson as a good example for manhandling a chimp. Surely someone like Khabib Nurmagomedov would be a better example to use. Tyson trained to throw and defend punches, not leverage limbs and whatever else wrestling a chimp would involve.

Ooooooo look at me I read books, what good would that do in the thunderdome against a chimp mate? :p

Tbh if this is a possibility i might change my Brexit vote to leave if there’s another referendum :D

I do agree with this, but I think people are going for a pure brute strength vs brute strength argument.

If you're going for brute strength then again there are far better examples such as Brock Lesnar or Daniel Cormier. A chimp isn't going to stand and bang so the best hope would be highly trained and very strong wrestlers or jiu-jitsu specialists.

The chimp still wins for me, their ligaments, joint movement and bone structure is on a different level.

This thread has got me watching a number of 'chimps attack' videos on youtube to try and assess the situation.

What has my life come to???????

My view is that Tyson loses. He is used to being punched and pounded. This chimp isn't going to do that.

Sub-Poll

Human high on Angel Dust or Bath Salts vs Chimp-Fight!

Is that your definition of doing "very well" in a fight? The guy got dragged around like a doll and had to jump/fall in the water to escape. You can also tell that the chimp was trying more to scare him off than do any real damage.

Funny thing about chimps.

They are strong enough to rip your arms and legs off.

But at the same time, their grip is so weak they need to use both hands to eat an apple!
