Question to all:

Will threadripper 3000 cpus destroy the 3900x and 3700x in gaming considering it will have a far higher amount of level3 cache?
I'd say no on the cache front; cache per core is what is most relevant. That stays the same with TR.
There's very little difference between the 3800X and 3900X in gaming, with one having double the L3 of the other. If a request is too big to fit in one of the L3 caches, it won't fit in the others either, so it would be a trip to memory in any event.

Yeah I tried 4x16gb 8Pack 3200 and 3600 kits.. Working.... But eff was slightly off.. Maybe just because sub timings train slack on 64gb... I did not have time to fully investigate... I can't do everything immediately...

I managed to pick up a 64 gb kit 16gb x 4 kit of 3466mhz Corsair Dominator platinum RGB for super cheap... I sold 32gb of it so In total my 2x 16gb cost me about £100...

I haven't had anything to use it on as I'm still on DDR3 so it's been sitting there.

Will I be able to run this at its 3466mhz rating on the b450m mortar and 3700x I have ordered?

Or will I be able to push it more? If so, how do I do this?

This is "WTF" I am on about

OCUK have stated on numerous occasions that processors which are put through the binning process that then fail to reach a high clock are put in system builds, not sold on as bare oem cpu's to the public.

The fact that I've always had much better luck OC'ing retail boxed Intel cpu's versus oem tray cpus is irrelevant! :D:D:D:D:D

Went for:

MSI B450 Carbon Pro AC
Ryzen 3600
512GB NvMe
16 GB Ripjaws V 3200mhz
Bought a new Wraith Prism off the bay too for £17 delivered

Loving it so far, my 4690K was really struggling with things like BFV :D

Was thinking of going for a 3700X, but I think that the 3600 is fast enough for me (for now....)

Unlikely. Threadripper will most likely have higher core counts at lower frequencies which isn't what games like for performance.

Threadripper has traditionally had the highest core clocks in the Ryzen range (2700x @ 4.35ghz vs 2950x @ 4.4ghz). Gen 1 Ryzen/TR had matched single core boost clocks - 4.2ghz. I reckon we could be on for a 5ghz single core boost for new TR.

My guess for new TR stack:-

24 core - 4.8ghz single boost, 3.6ghz all core, 180w, 949usd
32 core - 5ghz single boost, 3.6ghz all core, 180w, 1249usd
48 core - 4.6ghz single boost, 3.2ghz all core, 250w, 1599usd
64 core - 4.6ghz single boost, 3.2ghz all core, 250w, 1999usd
