Road Cycling

Wore my Halo for the first time for a ride this morning in the heat, have to say it did a great job. It wasn't until after I'd stopped that I finally felt any sweat dripping down towards me eyes.
Might have to invest in 1 myself... Last couple of turbo rides I've been wearing 2 headbands together and last time I even had to swap headbands mid-ride... But it was 24 degrees in my garage. On the turbo. FFS lol

I’m meant to go on a club ride tonight, forecast is 34 degrees at 7  I think I will need twenty sweatbands, I usually wear arm and leg warmers to avoid sun cream - arm ones are white and made for hot days but may give the black leg warmers a miss and sun cream up!

We had thunderstorm and thunder rain around 45 minutes ago, say a 5 minute downpour with a 15 minute light rain afterwards. All over now and back to sun. Temperatures didn't drop at all, which means humidity is now around 5000%...

I'm on my 4th day of commuting without knee warmers on my morning commute this year. That's around 4 more than the last 2-3 years combined!

Anyone own a Cervello R2?

I've been offered one, a year old with 105 groupset, little used by current owner for what I consider a reasonable price. (£700 but hoping to haggle nearer to £650)

Its only got the stock wheels on but i have a spare set of Prolites which would go on anyway.

It would either replace my 5 year old Felt F5 full time, or become a 2nd bike undecided at the moment.

Either way I'm going to look at it the weekend, just wanted to gauge thoughts on any owners out there.

Roady my f4r race wheels are full carbon and tubs. I think they're 1400grams though but will need to weigh them to be sure.

Those hunt wheels I would have in a heartbeat but I cannot afford them so it's a mash of what I have and what I can afford.....

I could probs shell out on silly light wheels and save 400grams there or for a bit less cash I could do full sram Red 22 build. I can't do both. I'm tempted to say bodging it with 105 and ultegra bits and splashing dosh on mega wheels might actually be the better option as the rotational weight saving is a bigger gain thag grouoset weight loss.....

New record for me, 3 days since I got my bike and it's been hit already. Tagged this evening about 2 minutes from work by a wing mirror, bit of visible damage to the shifter and bars, and destroyed Rapha shorts. Somehow managed to stay on, she was going at a fair lick, but pulled over and got her details. Already reported through to her insurers so hopefully it will be quick.

Glad to hear it! No issues with it under the helmet?

Yeah, no issues. Opened it up a couple of clips and it was fine.

Tbh the trainer will be the real test... I've not tried that yet.

That sucks.

Get the rrp of the groupset then pick up something better reduced.

After you've got a new pair of rapha bibshorts, see if they repair the old pair under the rapha race repair policy.

Is it a carbon frame (that is impossible to tell if its unsafe now?)

Fastest southside chaingang tonight in this heat was brutal.

Still don't feel strong but the numbers show I'm faster by getting PRs a lot of the time.

Need to get some shoes that fit as these Giro trans annoy the **** out of me. :o

As it's Cervelo it'll be slippery as an eel but the earlier Cervelos where not known for being that light and being an R it'll be a fair amount stiffer than your F5 & not that comfortable as it's a race frame...

Ahhh, hadn't realised, recalled the clinchers where around 1500-1600g with the 240S or 350 as I was looking at some a while ago...

You're right, you'll get more reducing rotational, but would it really be that much with those rims, obviously even less with different more affordable carbon rims... The groupset sounds more of a long term gain over all your riding, rather than just part of your season.

That sucks ass! Oncoming? Much bruising/injury? Impressive to keep upright with a knock to the bars and your body!

Let me know how you get on!

What's up with them? I was actually looking at a pair as my Treble II's have been superb. Found some for you.

Anyone else using the park RBS chain scrubber? Mine has needed a new sponge thing for ages but my brushes etc are all good. Replacement sponge things are only available in a kit which includes the brushes. Stupidly expensive considering a new complete unit is £15-17. Considering just getting some sponge from packaging and cutting it to fit... Has anyone else done similar?

Couldn't sleep the other night so started watching youtube vids determined to fix the issue I had been having on the Aeroad meaning I hadn't ridden it since last year. Anyway, it worked. Hidden screw on the FD to align it and I was back in business with the absolute black oval chain rings now all setup. Rode it to my mates in Basel. My god it's quick. Considering it's the first time I've ridden/ exercised my fat ass for a long while now, the thing was rapid. Man, I've missed that thing. With a small effort you're smashing along at 40kph. Utter amazing riding. Shame it was kicking out 37c though, was murder.

My de rosa is all built up, but first outing on that a while ago was all good until the crank arm came off half way home. I rode home with one leg. Was fun. Finally ordered a new (I'd got a second hand 6800 crank set on eBay to finish the bike) 6800 which should be here in the next couple of days and then it'll be fully done and sorted.

Going to start getting back into a daily routine. Proper lardy ***** enjoying holidaying and food/ booze too much and it's shocking how you lose it. I'm back though... :P Hope you're all well!

Nope from behind, tried to pass me with another car outside her. Hoping the claim is quick to go through.
Dang, what an idiot! Glad your hand wasn't smashed into the shifter too! How's the leg?

absolutely nothing.
Fresh air whistling through lol

Welcome back matey! Good job on the Aeroad, what was the issue!? FD alignment so used that little screw thingy that moved it outboard from the frame?

And what happened to the crankarm...? I may have a 6800 left side crank spare shortly if that helps at all (if my ebay snipe of a Stages last night bears fruit...)

All good here, although with the heat here this week I've not slept that great so feeling quite lethargic now and haven't done much outside of commuting all week (had a big week last week). It's cooler now and for a good week or more so fingers crossed sleep soon all solved and I can get some Zwifting done this weekend. Got home last night utterly melting in around 32 degrees with really high humidity, got straight in the wee man's paddling pool in my cycling kit - felt amazing! :D
