Elon Musk goes to court . . .

Is Musk on the spectrum?

You can't tell? Yes, he is. (the 'extrovert' variant - I know more than half a dozen personally - typically harder to detect due to the mistaken psych pro and most normal folk assumption that most on the spectrum are introverts).

There are a lot of things that I say. Not all of them have the same quality of thought. I would say very little at all if I just said sense. (LINK)

Unusual self-awareness from someone in the public eye; it is a great pity that Agent Orange and Bonker Boris are so blind . . . or are they just very stupid?

Sounds to me he is aware that his drug abuse leads to him doing and saying stupid and damaging things...

From the replies in this thread is it any suprise most of the people here vote Liberal Democrat. The hate Elon brigade just because Elon is so annoying.

We all say stupid **** from time to time. As people have said he is probably on the spectrum, as we all are from varying degrees. So is it a shock that he is not 100% aware of the consequences of what he says.

Criticise his businesses all you want but he is more successful than everyone in here put together probably 10x over. And his businesses are for the good of humanity. Space exploration and electric cars.

I struggle with how someone who publicly smokes narcotics that are illegal in many civilized parts of the world makes a good role model, whatever his companies wealth. I similarly struggled with Gordon Murray, one of the most talented of F1 designers' cocaine habit, in so far as it set a poor example to younger people. It also gave tems he worked for serious headaches as he was banned from the USA.

You really do hate people having the freedom to do as they please when it doesn't suit your narrow view of the world? I can only assume this will be your entire argument in this thread, nothing to do whatsoever with his natural personality traits, it must be a fever of the mind from psychoactive substances that have totally taken him over. It must annoy you so greatly that he's in the financial position that he's in, as it clearly doesn't fold neatly into the usual thesis of drugs leading to delinquent criminal lifestyles.

I do hope when inevitably the UK legalises it or decriminalises it (hopefully ironically by the Tories themselves), that you'll continue this unquestioning fury at the world, shaking at the clouds from your dainty pub about how it's just the not the same country anymore.

Regardless of the fantasy, you can't just blame his entire behaviour on drugs, as it doesn't really fit well enough considering his success.

I started watching the Netlifx show MARS, but after the 3rd episode I turned if off and haven't gone back to it. It's just a Musk/SpaceX advert with a little bit of a story inbetween.

He's a bit of a fruitcake, but only time will tell if he can live up to his dreams

The pub is anything but "dainty". it's a bit of a dive and rough house to be frank. If I am honest I don't like druggies, impoverished or billionaires. But the ones in the public eye and feted by our youth and who can make taking narcotics look cool to kids are the most dangerous. Musk can afford his habit, of that I have no doubt, it's the ones who take it up but can't afford it that give society grief.

He's playing the long game.

He's already got the weird name and piles of money. Once he's got himself a hollowed out volcano, an army of henchmen in Cybertrucks and a plan to hold the world to ransom with threats of blocking out the sun with 40000 satellites or cutting off the worlds electricity supply that he's monopolised, he'll be a fully fledged Bond villain.

Have you even watched the event you're referencing Chris? Or ever cannabis smoked yourself?

From what I read, the SpaceX rocket (and their competition Blue Origin) basically just updates Russia's now 30 year old RD-170 and RD-180 units using modern resources and using methane instead of kerosene for the pre-combustion.

Both, the SpaceX Raptor and RD-180, are closed cycle but the Raptor is full-flow whereas typically the engine would be fuel or oxidiser rich (RD-180 etc).
Still, the Raptor is an impressive engine and i believe (could be wrong) one of the first, ie - full-flow LCH4/LOX engine.

Good article on HackADay - https://hackaday.com/2019/02/13/the-impossible-tech-behind-spacexs-new-engine/

Edit - This is way OT, apologies!

The UK is the worlds largest producer of medicinal cannabis (and has been for many many years). And despite that they've fought tooth and nail against CBD treatments and medicines on the NHS with people going so far as risking jail terms to bring it into the country to treat their sick children (before legislation changed in the last few years). It makes me laugh when people rabbit on about the dangers of weed, when the cost to the economy and the health service from alcohol related illness and missed work days costs so much. Booze is literally putting poison (hence intoxication) in your system to get a buzz, yet arrogant snobs look down their noses at people who smoke a bit of weed. However there's the other side to the coin of the "cannabis solves all medicinal ailments" morons who're about as bad as those who believe in alternative medicines and crystal therapy.

Deserves it though. He didn't have to risk going bankrupt with both Tesla and SpaceX, to put all your money in probably the two most difficult industries to start in and because of where his passion is, is admirable.

The whole point of a limited company is that there is no risk of bankruptcy to the owner.

They only stand to lose the amount of money they put into the company, nothing more.

I agree that there is some hypocrisy around drug vs alcohol use, but I'm not sure that just because alcohol is worse than lots of people would like to admit (and arguably at least as bad as weed), we should throw caution to the wind and encourage usage of other drugs.
FYI, intoxication doesn't refer only to booze.

Strangely enough that's exactly what I was thinking! He would make the perfect Bond villain.

That’s what’s also so bizarre about it, he literally had a single toke which he didn’t even take in. It was obvious from the footage he didn’t have a clue what he was doing (and it was legal where he did it...). Hardly consistent with someone who has a ‘habit’.

You’d get more of a hit just walking down a street in the middle of Amsterdam than what musk got.
