Iiyama GB3466WQSU-B1 Curve (1500R) 34” 1440 144Hz VA panel FreeSync Premium Pro

Hi all,

In the market for a curved ultra wide. My budget is a max £600 and I need Freesync as I have an AMD RX5700 (Gigabyte Gaming OC).

Does anyone have any news on this forthcoming Iiyama monitor and when it will be available in the UK? (and will OcUK stock it?). Reading on Reddit I understand it will be out in Europe in June and be about the same price as the flat panel (~£400 or thereabouts).

What do we think of this panel?

This is the FLAT IPS panel version. My post is about the CURVED VA panel version which has the model no. GB3466WQSU-B1 NOT GB3461WQSU-B1. It should retail for about the same price and is due out in June I believe. Be interested to hear if OcUK plan to stock it and what others might think?

I believe it will be the same panel as all new 34" UW 144Hz 1500R VA

So I guess you can check reviews for them and see if you like it. General panel performance should be the same across them all, only difference will be design, connections, and the stand.

If somewhere in the UK can stock the Iiyama GB3466WQSU-B1 Curve (1500R) for approx £400 I think it will do very well.

Buying an ultrawide with a max budget of £600 seems to be a challenge, so many compromises to consider :rolleyes:

Yes have seen that as well - thanks. Would rather buy from OcUK (assuming they will stock it). Since @Infiniteey's post, I have looked at all the other monitors that use the same curved VA panel and been comparing them to the Flat IPS Iiyama (with the non-UW Dell you got as the backup plan!). Stock availability might become the deciding factor I suspect.

Which Dell are you talking about? Interested in this Liyama.

@Mr G the Dell I mention is the Dell S3220DGF, checkout https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/dell-s3220dgf.18885642/ for discussion. @random_matt has just got this display. It is good and it is a VA panel (It is a personal choice between VA vs. IPS).

For me personally, I want to get a curved screen, and hence going to a 32 or 34UW for a budget of £400, this will mean a VA panel.

Ah thanks. Interested in the S3220DGF and the Iiyama. Depends how quick OcUK can stock this model and prices.

I've had the Dell S3220DGF myself, the monitor looks stunning, overall response times for a VA is good. The dealbreaker for me was still the undesired black smearing. That said, for a VA it seemed to do better than most VA would in this regard. If you aren't overly fussed about it like I am, the S3220DGF is a good screen, just watch out for freesync/adaptive sync flicker.

I have this flicker with my MSI MAG272QC and it's annoying but only does this with certain games?

VA panels in general seem to suffer more from it than IPS screens. My Iiyama IPS ultrawide would also have some very slight flicker but only perceptible to me on load screen and very faint. What the actual cause is I have no idea.

Not sure if this is correct but it's the low framerate under freesync range apparently, don't quote me as it's something I read recently.

Yeah that part i knew about, but why though? I've read someone claiming it's a difference in voltage causing the brightness to be different depending on the hz. But is this a scaler issue or is it a GPU/driver issue?

I think driver related... this is far to common with other VA monitors from what I can gather from reviews and user feedback, brightness flickering on both GeForce and Radeon cards.
