Says a lot that people can't just be disgusted and sad for the poor girl and her family without getting into arguments as if there are sides with something like this.

Horrible way to go and a horrible way for your family to find out about your passing. Hopefully the courts will throw the full book at him and more. For me, rape has to be one of the most despicable crimes as even if the victim survives they'll never really get over it and spend years if not the rest of their life dealing with post trauma issues. But to rape and kill... I'm not religious but I'm sure there is a special place somewhere for people things that do such horrible things to people.

Having already been suspected if numerous sexual offences its pretty clear to me that this wasn't a true friend who went rogue but actually a predator who groomed this girl via a friendly relationship and then attacked her during a moment if vulnerability.

Absolutely sickening.

I am not sure that is what "grooming" means and doesn't apply in this case. I agree with you though, this looks like it was a sexual predator who then got to befriend people with the view to sexually assault./rape them rather than he went rogue.

At the end of the day, he seems to be (if the case is proven) a serial rapist who will join the hundreds and thousands of other rapists in this country.

I feel sorry for the woman who lost her life, truely saddening.

Out of interest how do you feel about the other 102 women raped today in the UK by friends or family members?

It sounds almost exactly like a textbook case of grooming sans gifts? It's not just like he intercepted a random girl walking home or a real friend who went rogue..

Sad story, can't imagine finding a family member in that state. Hopefully justice is served, although sexual assault sentences in this country are a bit of a joke.

Yes I know what it is but in this case raping and killing your "target" is exactly what a "Groomer" wouldnt do. This is a simple case of a serial rapist. Grooming is something else entirely. Unless you are going to re categorise 90% of rape cases as "Adult Grooming"? This is entirely not a textbook case of grooming as you claim.

If he had been grooming her he would have built up trust and sexually assaulted her in her flat/home etc. At the time the target may even feel like they are consenting. Ripping off somebody's underwear under some bushes in a park and raping her is not grooming.
