Also they announced that Game Pass subs have reached 15 million - a 5 million increase since the end of April. That's just going to go up and up. Timing of all this is pretty spectacular. Good luck with your pre-orders!

That Zenimax acquisition is huge.

Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, Doom, Dishonored.... some pretty big names in there.

Even if some of the next games in those franchises aren't exclusives to have them on Game Pass is a big feather in MS' cap. They could really stick the boot in by making something like Elder Scrolls 6 MS exclusive, it'd be a system seller.

So the next Elder Scrolls and Fallout etc will be Xbox exclusives?

Big news, but I don't see how this is a good thing for those of us who don't want to buy both consoles. Sony will surely have to respond with their own acquisition?

Competition is Good. Dread to think how much PS5 would be without Xbox as legitimate challenger (see Intel and AMD in the 2010s).

Holy moly, can't believe the Bethesda/ZeniMax acquisition, that's amazing for MS.

As a consumer I want stuff to be multiplatform for competition, but damn if that hasn't just given the Xbox pre-orders another boost!

WOW! make no mistake this is a HUGE acquisition for Microsoft, the prospect of Elder scrolls 6 not only a exclusive but basically free if your a gamepass subscriber! this is the definition of a system seller for those who only own a single console, this generation will be the most exciting yet i cannot wait to see how it unfolds.....looks like I better get up extra early tomorrow

Beyond brand loyalty and one or two exclusive games it's not looking great for Sony this Gen all things considered is it...

One or two? The reason that brand loyalty exists is because Sony have had an immensely strong line-up of exclusive titles generation after generation that can't be played anywhere else. This is entirely why MS have spent the past year or so hoovering up various studios.

Fortunately MS' approach is more open when it comes to releasing titles on other platforms, and as someone who tends to maintain a reasonably capable PC it means I probably won't need to buy any MS hardware this generation.

I cannot see ES or Fallout being exclusives. Also they are so far off that nobody should be worrying about it at this point. Timed exclusives maybe.

Surely that's essentially up to the new owners?

Maybe it's worthwhile making the game multi-platform. Maybe it isn't, and they'll be Xbox/Windows/Cloud exclusive gojng forward.

I think Todd Howard has already confirmed that they won’t be exclusive.

I think that makes sense. I'm not a fan of the whole exclusives thing no matter what side you sit on. I'd hate someone to get locked out of playing a game they want because they cant or dont want to buy two consoles/pc.
