Just got myself a used 780 Ti for £75 from an unnamed retailer that sells used mobile phones and electronics to act as my placeholder until I get my 3080 and to have as an emergency card.

I had a 780Ti, it failed. The reason is that the cards have an achillies heel in the graphics memory which is apparantly a little fragile.

So I just punched in my order number on the calculator and I'm number 42 in the queue (Zotac), so hopefully that means I'll get it by early October.
After reading all the negative experiences of the Zotac trinity from RGB failure to under performance compared to the FE, should I keep the preorder or cancel it?
I was going to queue up for the inno3d 4x but seeing as overclockers added £60 to the price tag today, I'm not sure if I have a plan B.
Any advice guys?

I’m number 41 on the unofficial queue and I’m tempted to switch it out for a strix oc

Stick to the Zotac. You'll get it soon going by their delivery volumes atm.

I believe Zotac said they'd look into it, they might address the performance with a BIOS update.

Zotac have been extremely forthcoming on the issue. The amount of heat they have gotten over these means they have to fix it!

Not gonna lie the performance issue that makes it below par to FE really bothers me. It needs overclocking just to match it. It's my first Zotac purchase (previous was an MSI gaming trio 2080ti) and I was drawn to the 5 year warranty, plus have heard great things about their previous 1080, 2080 cards.
I do wish and paid a bit more and I went with any of the EVGA cards instead.

Thats my concern, the prices just keep going up and probably wont go back to RRP until 4000 series imminent.
There needs to be competition its as simple as that. People may knock AMD but everyone should have an interest in them making competitive cards otherwise Nvidia are going to continue to charge whatever they want and churn out cards at a slow pace.

Well OcUK have just listed this afternoon 3 of the newer Zotac models. Or Gigabyte's Vision card just gone up...

Up to you, but I'd be fairly confident Zotac will address it somehow. They have been quite vocal in responding to the concerns.

Edit: Didn't even realise you said EVGA was the alternative. You've got bob hope! Don't think they sent a single card to the UK...... :D

If it makes you feel any better it's doubtful there'll be many EVGA cards available to the UK market anytime soon...

Tbf you would likely be waiting a long old while for the EVGA cards, they seem to be only really be servicing stock to NA right now.

You would most likely have regretted EVGA more. There stocking to UK is seemingly uncertain at best

Yeh it does. I would be interested to know if they got more Zotac's in today... If they did our orders should be very close now. That would have been the second shipment

Yes they did, see my earlier post below quoted.

Zotac/Palit seem to have quite regular deliveries.

Just got off the phone to OcUK, really helpful lad. He said the queue figures should be emailed out to everyone tonight apparently. But just waiting to process a bunch more cancellations, presumably so everyone gets fairly accurate queue numbers.

Also said the 3080 total orders are a few thousand less than said here, so maybe 6-7k at most not 10-12k. Said the Asus, Gigabyte Eagle and MSI cards are most popular - queues overall are approx 1700 Asus, 1300 GB Eagle and 1700 MSI right now... :o

Palit/Zotac seem best atm getting stock to them. Today had approx 38 Zotac cards, 41 Palit (38 normals, only 3 oc models) and getting fairly daily deliveries.

Think he also mentioned getting 300+ MSI cards soon as well? Not sure if I misheard that, but pretty sure what's what he said.
