But he shot at a random passer by, should they wait for him to shoot at someone else and maybe kill them, are they allowed to chase once there's a dead body? People having guns illegally and firing them at innocent people is always a dangerous situation, it's also dangerous to not chase.

He's not paid enough to be a hero by himself without any backup. Is my point.

I understand your point but I think if 2 Cops were there the situation would've gone down in exactly the same way, ultimately the kid had a firearm illegally and it was used to shoot at a random passer by, there's not really a safe way to apprehend someone holding a firearm and the entire event is unfortunate

The poor kid was a fool. It was dark, and he had been involved in discharging a firearm in public, ran from the police and did something that was almost guaranteed to get him shot at the end :(

He threw the weapon, which you can clearly see him handling in the video less than a second before he was shot, continued his hand motion upwards (behind his body) and then turned towards the officer.
It very much looked like (to the officer) in the very small time it took, that he had drawn the weapon, raised it up (behind his body) and was then turning to face the officer.

The officer could not have seen the weapon being thrown, but he did see the gun in the kid's hand (which was shortly presented to him) less than a second before.

I feel very sorry for both the officer and the kid :(

He was told to put his hands up...he put his hands up.

Be was told to do something...he did that thing and was shot dead within seconds.
If a cop has a gun pointed at you, thinks you’re armed, and asks you to take your hands out of you pockets and put them on your head, do you do it really quickly (<0.5s), or do you do it slowly and calmly?

This is a rhetorical question, because the answer will just be a tsunami of concentrated estrogen.

Adrenaline fully pumping into a 13 year old kid. Not many of us would be able to react calmly and safely once caught by the Police pointing a gun at you. Struggling to think of a safe end to the scenario that played out in the time frame in all honesty.

Putting his hands up was never the issue, doing it at the same time as throwing away a weapon was his biggest error.
Hit the deck hands out in-front of you open palmed, don't pull the weapon, tell the officer you are armed, and where the weapon is.
Then follow instructions.

Cop doesn't know he's 13 either. Just another gangbanfer with a gun on the loose to him.

Surely the instructions should have been "GET ON THE FLOOR"?

Showing hands would have been perfect, but for the fact he happened to handle a gun during that process ruined it.

If he had said get on on the floor, and reached for his gun, the same thing would have likely happened :(

This is not like the case in the hotel where the officer gave a set of very confusing, drawn out and problematic demands, and shot the guy in cold blood. I have very little to say to protect that officer, but this case is just a very tragic and unfortunate series of events caused by the kid being a total muppet :(

BBC news coverage of this is a disgrace, headline is 13 year old unarmed boy shot dead, deliberately misleading headline designed to get the BLM mob riled up and rioting again.
