Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

Heard an interesting stat about Varane on the radio just now. He averages just over 20 league games a season from the last 10 years. He going to be able to cope in the prem?

I think he’ll be alright. It’s mids and attackers I worry about more coming into the prem. Defenders from all leagues tend to be pretty robust.

He has averaged over 30+ the past three seasons. What an odd stat to look at as 10 years ago he was just 17/18 so obviously his game time would have been lower.

Twitter is linking us with Saul from atheltico again, I feel we need a midfielder so least the position makes sense.

Just need another attacker for me

Any thoughts for a final few transfers? I would like to see Ruben Neves come in, always rated him when I’ve seen him play for Wolves, seems to have a good work rate too, so I hope the rumours are true.

Think a striker will come on next season if Greenwood hasn’t staked his claim.

If we want to be serious title contenders we need that type of player.

Not sure about Neves. Always seemed like he was an "almost" player. Never quite top draw. Solid enough but unspectacular.

I imagine that next season we will be in the mix for Haaland. I don't want us to be because his agent is the chief **** Raiola but I'm sure we will be.

Yeah, that’s why I’m thinking/hoping he’d ‘level up’ if he joined us and had a bit more quality around him. At least you know he’ll actually try when he plays too…

Indeed, they’ll bang on about his history with Ole I expect for the next United saga!

Neither is James, Dalot, Pereira, van de Bench*, an aging Mata, an aging Matic, Williams, Fred, Mctominay. But here we are.

*who incidentally, is on the bench for tonight's friendly

Saul seems to have been linked with just about every club going now, reminds me a lot of whatshisname...that other guy who seems to be linked with just about everyone going every transfer window, Rabiot.

Was Fletcher, was Butt....list goes on ....more than useful players in their day but neither was a headliner, even Carrick came in without being a superstar (and arguably still was , unfairly, after he stopped playing)

Sometimes you just need someone completely out of the limelight that lets the players around them play "better".

Oh I agree and the best players in quite a lot of positions on the pitch fit into that category, especially DM. I'm just not sure hes that good.

I think Neves would be a good player for Utd. He's not a superstar by any means but he's very good at what he does and what he does, Utd need in central midfield. At the moment Utd's preferred CM pair of Fred & McTominay are lacking in terms of their ability to get on the ball and control games in possession and against teams that will sit deep against Utd, they can struggle to get the ball into Fernandes etc. He doesn't do much else but Neves is great on the ball and will help Utd control games and feed passes into their more creative players and if he's got a workhorse beside him (and better, creative players ahead) he might end up being a very decent player.
