That's almost a whole country written out the rulebook then?
Good commentary from Pakman on this trial.
Pakman is someone who is usually reasonable, but has lost it when it comes to this case. He goes on and on about gun culture, failing to acknowledge that the rioting was the primary cause of the violence. The legal experts unanimously say the judge is not wacky or biased.
You don't need to be a gun nut to know you never ever point a gun at someone and you definitely don't have your finger on the trigger.
I think the Jury will convict him of some of the lesser stuff the prosecution have been allowed to shove in at the last moment.
Many on the jury will be worried about the quite likely doxing and harassment they will receive if KR walks a free man
Hope he walks.
I hate democratic prosecutors.
this is there problem with the whole system it’s political. You wouldn’t hear the judge or prosecution in the uk as a Labour or Conservative, as it’s irrelevant.
It was done for exactly this purpose 100%. It might have been done intentionally to provoke a fear response in the jury as part of a way of swaying them.
Yep.
Yet another failure of the US justice system.
Same with judges appointed by whatever administration is in power.
You did know that the UK gov appoint the judges?
From Wikipedia:
Under the Constitutional Reform Act 2005 the Judicial Appointments Commission has removed the appointment of judges from the overtly political arena. High Court judges, as with other judges, are appointed on open competition.
High Court judges, as with all judges in England and Wales, hold office during good behaviour; this is laid down in the Bill of Rights 1689. This gives them greater security of tenure than if they held office during His or Her Majesty's pleasure and is designed to protect their independence. A High Court judge can only be removed by the Queen upon an Address of both Houses of Parliament.
Hope he walks.
