I do like the switch around though. Much better to play second legs at home.
Hold on a minute! @Drukk told us we were playing the covid card so that the game was played when Salah and Mane were back!
Such as?
Part of it yes, that did not happen but I still believe they could have played this game but wanted the break, maybe they will but I doubt they will now play Sunday either. Its not personal against Liverpool, it is my view clubs are trying to use the excuse of covid to their own advantage when it suits, that I have stated from the start of my posts.
One thing about this though, and I reckon even other fans would agree with this, we should be allowed to push our Burnley game back until Sunday.
Asking us to play less than 48 hours after a game we wasn’t even scheduled to play is taking the ****
Surely the EPL have the final decision though?Probably will be but Burnley would have to agree. A Liverpool game didnt get moved this season, later kick off, after we requested it as the other team refused, may have been Watford but not sure.
That was more to players returning from international matches tough.
Arsenal v Burnley won't be a TV game I guess so pretty sure they would move it.
Drukk aside it's not really a slight at Liverpool, it's more the fact that games are postponed based on criteria thats not being made transparent. I know it's a different body but why are Leeds forced to play kids VS City but the Pool game gets postponed? It's not very clear what the criteria is and when it means that if a team can't name a strong enough line up a match gets postponed, it's always going to cause a bunch of rival fans to get angry.
Your cynicism is misplaced. Had this been a non covid season, none of Alisson, VVD, Trent, Fabinho, Mane or Salah would have featured vs Arsenal even had they been available. Just like vs Leicester, it would be a mixture of 1st team squad players, the odd 1st team player needing minutes and then topped up with u23s. And vs Shrewsbury it would been an even weaker side, with fewer first team squad players and more u23's.Part of it yes, that did not happen but I still believe they could have played this game but wanted the break, maybe they will but I doubt they will now play Sunday either. I said this weeks ago but tbf, this has been clarified in recent weeks regarding the PL at least. If you have at least 13 players including a keeper from your 25 man squad and or u21's that have played first team football that season available then you have to play on. There is ultimately no one right answer regarding this whole issue though. The way in which covid spreads and the delays between players returning positive tests means a side could have 15 players available today but less than 10 available in 2 days time. And for every supporter complaining about postponements, you have even more complaints if games are postponed on the day of the game too. We get shouts of just play the u17s but is that what people really want? The PL is meant to be the best League in the world and people want to put on circus matches where City beat Leeds u13s by a cricket score?Drukk aside it's not really a slight at Liverpool, it's more the fact that games are postponed based on criteria thats not being made transparent. Presumably the 3 Players off due to the Africa Nations kick-about were not taken into consideration as part of the EFL judgement on what is supposed to be a covid postponement?
