Quite a bit of chatter in Germany that we're after Denis Zakaria for around £5m. Seems incredibly cheap.

Solid central midfielder, no brainer at that price.

Newcastle could do with Ramsey from Juvé, they could afford his wages and he still has plenty to offer. Then try and get Lingard, even if it’s just to the end of the season. Nat Phillips as has been advised already. Hell even offer Dele Alli a loan deal. He certainly needs a fresh start somewhere.

Was talking to the neighbour last night and said Newcastle could do worse than go for Lindgard, Ramsey, Alli and Barkley (3 of 4 would also be attainable) as they could easily afford them and they would give them a much better chance of avoiding relegation as they're all used to the league and should give enough to finish above Norwich, Burnley and Watford. A couple of premier league current defenders (Nat Phillips for one) might also help.

Ramsey is owed quite a lot of money from Juve. It's not an easy deal to do.

I'm quite surprised that Lingard isn't being kept as he is the sort of player that might thrive in a pass and move team.

And if Denis Zakaria has 2 working legs and costs £5m we should take a punt on him. Can't be worse than what we have got and even if he is, hes £5m.

Newcastle paying 25m for Chris Wood is absolutely insane. That stinks of desperation.

but what else can we do? Sat's game is one of the biggest of the season and we haven't got any fit strikers near PL level.

It was a release clause of a player we know can do a job (comparable stats to wilson) and could get in a day or two.

Any other striker (we're in for another) will take potentially up to the end of the window, which means throwing three games away.

It was obvious when we couldn't score against a League one team without a proper striker desperate measures were needed.

What I find funny is that people say 20-25 for wood is mad but throwing 30-50 on unproven 19-22 year olds would be better in a relegation battle. Madness.

In the context of where we are in this season, Wood is a good signing.

That presumes that United are anywhere near competent in dealing with such matters. United need to be ruthless and I can't remember a time in recent history when they were. We'll **** it up and end up playing Phil Jones as a CDM.
