Meanwhile we have pretty much nothing to defend against ICBMs because increasing spending on defence wasn't seen as a good way to spend money...

Unless its been tested in real conditions you cannot believe any capability to be proven. Its like I can demonstrate my ability to hover in the air, however the fact it was a video in slow motion and all I did was jump proves nothing. Likewise the agile / hypersonic missiles that have been in the news, how many attempts were unsuccesful before they issued one successful one?

SO now that reality kicked in Europe with this War, why dont every nation puts a dollar/euro/pound in and develop a kick ass aircraft fighter and a kick ass drone and the likes to deal with them?

Israels iron dome? Not sure how good that is.

extremely effective, have seen it in action when in Tel Aviv working. But it's designed to intercept fairly low yield rockets / short distance ordnance. I don't think it would or is even capable of intercpeting an ICBM.

I wonder if now is actually the best time to admit Sweden and Finland into NATO (if they want to)...the Russians could hardly spread their forces so thin whilst deeply involved in Ukraine....

Surely now is the time to strike...I mean it can't get any worse in Ukraine.

This is something i've been meaning to ask for a long time.. Nuclear warheads as the name suggests has a payload that produces an explosion with nuclear fallout etc. due to its fission reaction. If a missile were to intercept an ICBM in flight or MIRVs if they've split already, wouldn't the resultant contact between the two set off the payload creating the fission reaction and well basically an Nuclear explosion? granted just a lot higher into the atmosphere than an airburst or surface blast.

Russia have the S-550 missile system which is apparently capable of taking out satellites, ICBMs, and nullifying nuclear weapons. The project was fast-tracked by Putin but there's some ambiguity over whether it's been deployed yet or not.

This is where I think Putin might have an edge over the West and why he is being so brazen now, at this time of all times. He's had 8 years since Crimea and him having confidence in his fire power seems more likely a reason than failing health.

Before Russia invaded I thought the outcome would be determined purely by their missiles. It's disappointing that the EU are no longer supplying fighter jets, but even so Russia's missiles are basically kamikaze fighter jets and they have thousands of them.

It all comes down to the Ukranian's fighting spirit and how they can wage an asymmetric war.

Of course they can, the mighty Red army is indestructible and the most advanced in the world. Christ They can’t even keep there forces supplied a few hundred miles away from the Russian boarder, why do people fall for stuff like this

Been seeing some posts etc being posted on social media related to how the western media has been covering the Ukraine crisis, we already saw one CBS journalist apologise for his comments but it seems quite a bit more common in relation to the perception of some racism.

Poorly chosen words by the media or words misinterpreted out of context?

And then there's reports of Poland denying entry for Nigerian Ukrainians after they opened their borders to Ukrainian people wanting to flee to safety...

Nigerian Ukrainians that's a new one probably some of the illegal immigrants that were stuck in Belarus that Lukashenko was sending over to punish the EU for the sanctions and are exploiting the situation.

Fortunately to achieve the maximum detonation everything has to happen in a specific sequence at specific times. An interception is highly unlikely to trigger a detonation.
