Given the state of some of my recent tweets, so long as this Russian regime is in charge I'm pretty sure I'd just be arrested at the airport and deported if I ever tried to visit....oh well, I'll bounce back!

Why deport? You'd be a useful token to use against Boris. Just lock you up in the gulag or publicly put you on execution unless Boris does what Putin says. It is easier to let you sit in the clink or die than be blackmailed.

Surrender? Putin?

No Putin will simply execute vast swathes of Ukrainians, irrespective if they were armed or not. Why? Simply because they seeked to challenge him. For him the Ukrainian isn't a human, it's a opportunity to make a point to every one in Russia and outside of russia. He will also blame the West and the US for every death.

There is no negotiation, it's not in Putin's interest from a image and from a political stand point.

It is amazing after everything we've seen and some still cling on to hope for diplomacy, etc. It is plain Putin is only interested in coercion and capitulation - any agreement now will just be to ease the path towards his goals later.

He told Macron in no uncertain tones the Russian military will stay in Ukraine until their "task" is done.

Just catching up today.

Seems like a huge day for Ukraine overall.

Entire Russian units deserting/quitting/surrendering.
Ukraine launching counter offensives against the encroaching convoys.
Russians being forcibly enlisted as Putin tries to crack down harder.
Suggestions the expensive ammo (cruise missiles etc) Russian side is running low on reserves.
More countries applying to join the EU.
More Russian armor being destroyed/abandoned/captured.

The 2 bolded ones of particular relevance as it could suggest his entire war machine is about to fall apart.

Well China could sell them knockofff microchips to make new weapons .. for gas/oil at a discount.. the Chinese would then retail that oil/gas for a large markup..

I wouldn't say Mazepin was ever an F1 driver judging by his levels of driving retardation.................
Touché :D he wont be missed if he gets the boot, its a shame it has taken this tragedy to prompt it and he wasnt booted on pure lack of performance. Will hopefully open up space for a more deserving driver. I dont have any love lost after his previous behaviour controversies or his driving standards.

It is however sad to see ordinary Russians effected so badly by the sanctions. All because of one deluded maniac.

I think it depends how bad it gets for him. He can only keep up the pretence of it going well for so long

My point is that China is a partner and has not stopped trade. Thus production of arms is likely to be adapted to use Chinese components.

Building cruise missiles isnt exactly a "production line" that can churn them out at the rate theyre currently being fired even in the best of times, let alone with crippling worldwide sanctions in play.

I'd hazard a guess that they havnt relied on western components for arms.

I mean theres a reason any military procurement cost so much and takes so long, countries like to keep manufacturing (Usually licensed) within country. I could be wrong but I'd expect all Russian arms components to be Russian.

true but the same is true for guided munitions from planes and choppers or rockets. With China slightly behind in generations they could look to adapt for more limited tech it’s obvious limitations.

Russian MIGs still used Russian glass 8550 valves in the radar until the 1980s for EMP protection. I’d expect them to favour the native tech too. That’s 1920s tech in a 1960s-80s fighter.

I would be extremely surprised if Puty backed down now, in any quarter. He is up to his neck in it now.

Someone on the inside needs to take him out asap..

North Koreans believes they won the World Cup in 2014.

When you have the propaganda in place…you can do anything.

They're rather more isolated than Russia though. Granted while most Russians are reliant on state-controlled TV news they're not completely cut off from the rest of the world.
