For a single person maybe, remember some are coming in groups, like families that want to stay together, you think £350 is enough to host a family of 3 or more or even 2. Come on really think about it. One person maybe and then you help too, but anything more is taking the micky for the host and the government should up it by the amount of people, not a one off payment no matter how many you take in or how many rooms or a full property you have free.
£350 is a joke, and even the kind hearted people will realise this soon and why they are told you can take them but for a guaranteed 6 months only.. What if the host decides they can't afford having them there ? the 6 month trap may have legal consequences and forcing the host to keep them there no matter what. This is not how it should be done, they need to help the host with bills and extra costs too. It's a disgrace.. They need to do more really and all these kind hearted people will suffer in time too with the financial burden maybe. I'm not seeing rich people step up, I'm seeing normal people in normal homes that most are struggling with their bills.
Maybe if they are dining out on McDonald's every week. Total energy costs for a family in a room is what £50 a month max as most of the expensive stuff like heating is already offset by the house owners.
I am a family of 4 and could quite easily live off £300 a month for food.
