The news videos showing the protests in St Petersburg alone looked like large crowds protesting with many being arrested. Granted nobody can confirm official numbers because those won't ever come out, but they have confirmed from those protests many thousands have been arrested/detained - From 2 weeks ago: https://www.reuters.com/world/europ...r-protests-russia-protest-monitor-2022-03-06/
 
Also going on about Russia running out of food is a bit rich given the situation the EU is currently in with looking at boating grain in from the US at massive expense.

The change was to put a guy that worked in the state library into control of the centre. Previously it was on the kremlin's Hitlist for being outspoken and being "foreign controlled" through the funding.

Russian field I can't find any details on their ownership, given it's a private company is a bit odd.

Russia is unlikely to run out of crops, it *is* likely to run out of capability to harvest thus a knock on effect wrt food products made from it and foodstuffs for livestock.

"A bit rich"? That doesn't make sense to compare EU and Russia in this context. It is an observation that lack of parts will impact agriculture and industry.

Yes, I was thinking this. What a golden opportunity for the West's warhawks. They must be thrilled to be gathering so much data about the Russian military from this, at such a low cost.

Also, I read about regions of Russia that have been agitating (to a greater or lessor degree) for independence. (Can't find that article now - answers gratefully received). I wonder whether any efforts are being made to encourage them to take advantage of this moment?

Last year, Levada released a poll showing that public trust in Putin had dropped from 71% (September 2017) to 53% (October 2021). That's not the kind of message you'd be putting out if you were a government puppet.

Yes. I also believe there are independent journalists in Russia who tell the truth, even if it kills them.

just get microsoft, amazon or some other massive american company to use their datacentres and see how quickly Russia gets taking offline... you could probably DDOS the whole country

if they want to play with hackers and viruses then someone should remind them what happened to Iran.... and China wouldn't be happy if the economy of the world gets disrupted no doubt.


If everyone started pulling out of China now they would blame Russia for sure... countries should just go ahead and do it.

no one could ever hack Russia in return they have some fibre curtain in place traffic only goes one way

Bull, if you are likely to be taken away and a mum and leave your children on their own then what? If your husband is unfortunately in the military because they have to serve but don't want too then what, he could well have issues. If you have a job and you don't want to loose it because you are arrested then what? How short sighted do you have to be to suggest that they should all just go out there and protest. We've seen people arrested for holding a blank sign!
