Vincent from HDTV test observed that HDR400 can result in overblown highlights, I noticed the same thing - it was immediately noticeable when playing AC Origins - I'll try to grab a couple of photos later when the kids are at school
And a crushing of brighter details too.Vincent from HDTV test observed that HDR400 can result in overblown highlights, I noticed the same thing - it was immediately noticeable when playing AC Origins - I'll try to grab a couple of photos later when the kids are at school
Yeah. I have had eco off almost from day 1. I don’t even remember why? Do you? Some comments on reddit about the timer for pixel/panel refresh. It is possible that if you have Eco mode off in the OSD then the timer counts standby time as well which is definitely what I have observed as have had Eco off since day 1 on this replacement.
Easy way to test is now if to have Eco on and see how often the Pixel refresh initiates, so if that is the case, the Eco mode on should only be tracking the active use hours and not standby hours as well.

What game was that in? My findings were pretty much from Cyberpunk 2077 and God of War, although I think I actually prefer God of War SDR due to the art style.
Now playing Res Evil Village though so will try a session with 1000 on that and see what's what.
Got my replacement for dead pixels scheduled.
“The estimated date of delivery is 10/12/2022 and the old system would also be collected after that.”
I assume that’s 10th December but being Dell it could be 12th October. I’m not too fussed about waiting so long as I still have the old monitor usable until then!

Pretty sure you have to disable Eco to even change the brightness setting to start with? I really doubt that would impact the refresher timer either way thoughYeah. I have had eco off almost from day 1. I don’t even remember why? Do you?![]()
Ah ok on quite a lot of monitors you can’t change brightness setting until you opt out of their predefined eco or energy saving mode, I wondered if it was that.As in brightness setting in the OSD? You can change brightness regardless of Eco mode setting. The only time you cannot is when HDR is active, which is expected as HDR takes over brightness control.
It is not clear what Eco mode actually does as Dell has no clear wording that defines it and what they do state in the manual, doesn't really make sense or seem accurate.
I left Eco mode on for the sole purpose of the fan switching off. When I switched Eco mode off I noticed that often the fan would stay on in the monitor, which is kind of bothersome if you're not even using it. Instead with Eco Mode on, after the pixel refresh has run the fans will switch off a few mins after. Consequently I think it just allows the monitor to go into a lower power mode.As in brightness setting in the OSD? You can change brightness regardless of Eco mode setting. Yeah. Silly that they don’t even use a proper fan in there. Would be what? A fiver, a tenner? Luckily it has not bothered me too much.Hmm well with Eco on, I just turned the screen off and it did a pixel refresh which was expected as it's not been off since this morning. What didn't happen though was the fan turn off afterwards. I went away to do the laundry and when I came back the fan was still humming away with the monitor off.
I am actually looking forward to getting whatever replaces this now and has no fans inside. I do kind of miss the near total silence my PC is when using normally day in day out.

I think it'll be 12th Oct, as that's the date of when to expect arrival if ordered new atm.Got my replacement for dead pixels scheduled.

Yeah I have noticed sometimes it still does stay on for some reason, seems to go off most of the time though.Hmm well with Eco on, I just turned the screen off and it did a pixel refresh which was expected as it's not been off since this morning. Do you sleep with one eye open?Yeah I have noticed sometimes it still does stay on for some reason, seems to go off most of the time though.
The reason I notice it as the screen is quite close to my bed, so can definitely tell at night when I'm sleeping. xD
Hah no, meant the fan. Can be some what loud in a quiet room.Do you sleep with one eye open?
