I would have thought the queen was fairly supportive. It would have been the royal household staff that werent. The press office, the aides and minor royals. People like that.

Rooney like Beckham, Gascoigne and Best were the most famous players in the world for a while. Still I'm trying to think of front page stories about Rooney away from football other than him sleeping with hookers. Gascoigne, well we all know his problems off the field with addiction and domestic violence. That is why I said a player of similar fame, Rooney, Beckham, Gascoigne were talismans for England, Rooney was seen as a once in a generation talent, compared to the likes of Best. Sterling is an England starter yes but he isn't the first name on the team sheet and isn't really good enough to lace those players boots. So why so many front page negative stories and some of them laughable?

You literally just see racism where ever you look because you spend a lot of time talking about it and reading about it. I can find 20+ positive stories about Raheem Sterling in about 5 minutes. Can you show us some of these front page negative stories? You've said there's "so many" so I'm expecting at least 5 examples

Over 50 so yes I remember that happening but the point is it happened for a reason. He petulantly kicked out at a player and got a red card. That is also a football story, so many of the Sterling front pages have nothing to do with football. If Sterling gets sent off in the World Cup for doing something like that then he'll have the bad press coming his way for a reason.

OK OAP is an exaggeration, she was 48 grandmother. The point is you can see why he made the front pages, not that I think a football player sleeping around is any of our business, a moralising MP on the other hand would have it coming if they got caught.

Does it really matter what it is for. He never deserved what he got. There were effigies of Beckham being hanged and burned all over the country. He needed police protection because there were fears for his life. Sterling had none of that.

Where did I say he did? I detest the tabloid press, they are no better than what we'd scape off our shoes. The point was he made the papers for actually doing something, not for buying his mum a house.

As other people have already pointed out, there are plenty of examples of negative coverage of "white" people in the UK press, including but by no means limited to football players. Most of the UK press is a festering cesspit.

You're blinded by your racism. If you walked into a hospital ward containing 10 "white" men with a broken leg and 10 "black" men with a broken leg you'd see 10 "black" men with a broken leg. You're a devout believer in race and in unchosen group identity, the doctrine of "they're all the same". You reject the idea of an individual, a person. Assuming you can understand that concept at all. So you assume that anything about anyone is solely due to the unchosen group identity you assign them to.

Can you name a "white" player who had an assault rifle tattooed on his leg? I doubt it.

That tattoo is obviously a dog whistle calling for violent revolution and racist genocide. I know because the Emperor's new clothes told me and I am special. It doesn't matter what Sterling said about it because I am special and I know what he means better than he does.

Anyone can do your dog whistle thing. It's not at all difficult.

It started because he has an assault rifle tattooed on his leg. Which makes him stand out. It's something the media can clickbait about and get people in a lather. So they did. Because that's what they do. They're completely amoral and don't care at all about the truth (in this case, the reason why Sterling has that tattoo) or the harm they do. To anyone. It's not a race thing. The gutter press is the gutter press to everyone. They'll print anything about anyone if they can get away with it and it will get them attention and power/profit.
