Harry and Meghan to resign

I know you're trying your best not to see the obvious difference, but come on man it's the Daily Mail... hardly a bastion of neutrality and love now is it? They literally make their money preying on ignorance and hatred. Here's some choice ones for Meghan:

Kate: "Kate's morning sickness cure? Prince William gifted with an avocado for pregnant Duchess"
Meghan: "Meghan Markle's beloved avocado linked to human right abuse and drought, millennial shame"

Kate: "Why you can always say it with flowers"
Meghan: "How Meghan Markle's flowers may have put Princess Charlotte's life at risk"

Kate: "Kate and Wills Inc: Duke and Duchess secretly set up companies to protect their brand - just like the Beckhams"
Meghan: "A right royal cash in! How Prince Harry and Meghan Markle trademarked over 100 items from hoodies and to socks SIX MONTHS before split with monarchy - with new empire worth up to £400m"

You don't really get more transparent than the rags campaign against those two, and if you can't see that, you've had your eyes willingly gouged out.

I think because it's the Daily Mail you see any negative story printed about anyone not white and assume it's because of racism.

Let's go on the Daily Mail and check out this modern day Ku Klux Klan propaganda piece

Well here they're printing a story about Mel B, who is black I believe, criticising Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. They obviously agree with Mel B despite her being black and Phil and Holly being white, although Phil is gay so maybe that's their angle?

Mean while some positive/feel good stories involving black people

Oh and here's a nice story about Yaya Toure

They don't seem to be very good at being Nazi racists at a first glance at least

"but come on man it's the Daily Mail"!

As far as I recall the DM also had a campaign of nastiness against Kate when she first appeared. Meghan came along and it was easier to paint Megs in a bad light and Kate in a better one by comparison.

As to why they do this against Meghan? I don't think it's racism. The DM are right wing and staunch royalists, and Meghan has contributed to [not caused, but contributed to] the break up of that part of the family on Harry's side, that's why they dislike her.

Gwen Stafani and kendal Jenner? Thats scraping the barrel a bit.

You are still missing the point but that is what you are known for.

I've no idea the racial identity of every celebrity, Meghan looks fairly light skinned to me but she has a black parent, but I'm pretty sure Yaya Toure and Mel B are black though. Is it just black people the Daily Mail hate, they seem to post positive stories about black people and negative stories about white people? It's all very confusing. They're racist because they print both positive and negative stories about white people and black people, but we believe them to be racist because they're the Daily Mail so they must be racist "come on man!"

Its a bit like misogynists have mothers and possibly female partners.

It started before the dissent, it was as though the Media were out to get her straight away.

Waiting for all these head lines still mate, I'll check back tomorrow lmao

So just to be clear @Colonel_Klinck - is it ONLY because she's "black" that GB news are reporting negatively about her, and absolutely nothing else about her (i.e. her attitude, what she's said, her actions so far etc), it's solely her skin colour that's caused this negative reporting?

Now, "racist nation" - Thats definitely my words, unless you think there's no racism in the UK in which case we aren't a racist nation - so which is it Klinck, are we a racist nation or not?

Also, Malcom X hated people like you more far more than he would've hated someone like me, and thats in his own words not mine and, as a black man, you can't disagree with him or you're a racist :)

Look son, the world doesn't work in absolutes, its not binary. So she isn't being attacked just because she is black, no one said that was the only reason, its that it is part of the attack that I have issue with. We can live in a nation that isn't racist as a whole but have racists in the country. God why do I need to explain this? Are you old enough to be on this forum because this is stuff you learn when you are a child.

As for the GB "news" story its pathetic, they just can't let it go, they make up some nonsense and push it out to their audience that lap it up. It really is just Fox News at this point, in fact its more like a British Newsmax.

It’s a disproportionate amount of coverage for a player of Sterling’s profile, albeit extremely hard to objectively demonstrate without reviewing the front pages of every issue of The S*n for the last four years.

Yeah, I checked her history. Accusations of appropriating black culture, or some rubbish.
To be fair that's pretty much every woman in the music industry in the last 10 years. Quite a few white women have made themselves look like light skinned black women

But Gwen Stefani is very white, at least she was when she broke out into the limelight back in the early 2000's

There's plenty of stories about aliens building the pyramids online too. I looked for Sterling online. All I found were some claims about how the gutter press coverage of him must be racism because he's "black". Without any evidence of that gutter press coverage of him, let alone evidence that it was solely due to racism.

So this was the claim above, now some evidence of gutter press coverage of her has been posted:

Some of us actually work for a living. A 2 minute google is all it took. [headlines]

It's not clear where the argument that this is racism comes in here? He's had some negative headlines and he's black therefore racism??? It's hardly something new that the tabloids would criticise an England football player over partying or call them out over cheating?

If this is the sort of thing people are basing their perceptions of Megan Markle's "racist" treatment at the hands of the press on then it seems rather OTT.

The examples I've seen are things like some journalist mentioned her having grown up near Compton, some sort of clumsy emphasis on a rags to riches story, though at best that's a "microaggression". Cherry-picked examples of negative stories don't imply racism, in fact even if you were to not cherry-pick and somehow demonstrate objectively that the press were more hostile to one celebrity or royal vs another it doesn't logically follow that that is because of their race (though AFAIK this hasn't even been established).

It's hardly the first time an American divorcee has married into the Royal family and become unpopular with the public either...

Kate Middleton had a bunch of stories that could be portrayed as negative too - commoner from a new money background, mother was an air hostess, uncle has a criminal record etc.. stories about her having a poster of William on her bedroom wall and insinuations that she's targeted him/seduced him complete with the scantily clad photo of her at a student fashion show.

Could it be one was playing for the first team and the other wasn't?
Surely buying a £2.25 million mansion is a bit dicey when you haven't played first team football.
I know on that new Football Academy series the 18 year olds given a pro contract are on £40,000 a year.

£25K a week is £1.3M a year. Less than 21 months pay to buy that mansion. Most people who buy a house buy one costing more than 21 months pay. So it's not really dicey to do so. Also, he probably expected to have a massively successful career and a huge pay rise. Although your suggested explanation could still be right because media stories are about perception rather than reality.

Another possible explanation is that the two pieces are written by different people at different times.
