That sounds like far more hassle than its worth vs an AIO or quiet air cooling.

Probably the sole reason my rig is watercooled, although having an air cooled graphics card in it temporarily drove me mad due to the additional noise!

Last time I read up on AIB VS reference/FE (whatever you want to call it), AIBs can customise the cards a fair bit in order to cut costs and so on, some posts from that reddit thread:

I'm sure we'll get the truth at some point though especially if an investigation is launched.

No clue tbh. I would have thought that nvidia do some QC checks on their end then send out to AIBs and it is up to the AIBs as to what they can change (imagine there would be a list of what they can and can't do provided by nvidia) from there on and obviously go through their own QC checks.

How are you getting on with the GameRock? Curious to know what the core clock is at stock and what you are able to overclock to on the core/memory game stable?

I have not tried overclocking it yet Lt Matt so can't comment but the core clock settles @ 2810ghz.

So who's fault is that then? Nvidia or AIBs?

Whoever asked for it asked for it to be made to a certain spec and cost. Either the company delivered what was asked for or there were QC issues. Everything is made is China anyway, both good and bad.

These are the first time these connectors have been pushed out to the wider world so as with any new thing there are teething problems that need to be ironed out.

Can't say i have heard any with mine, the cooler seems very good and fan noise is not distracting maybe it's because they use different capacitors ! dunno.

I heard a few people complaining about the Zotac cards having noisy fans/motors but they could have just got a faulty unit.
