Yeah, I have undervolted my 3080FE and have about 10% performance uplift if required. I find a hot noisy GPU unbearable now and tend to set an FPS limit. I get that some love that overclocking potential, so it’s good AMD have those options.

So it looks like AIB's are allowed to push those extra 100 watts in to them...
It will be intresting to see the results of that.

I think you'll find the correct term is breeze block. We passed the brick stage a while ago.

Yeah better innovation would be AIB's trying to get back to 2 slot sizes using other materials/designs. Chonky cards are ok for mammoth cases but wouldn't mind them at least try for some thin options.
The reference design is just over 2 slots wide.

It's hard to gauge whether AMD hasn't mentioned over locking headroom because of a long memory ("overclocker's dream") or because it won't be anything special on that front. Remains to be seen whether the scaling to 3GHz pertains to this release or binned examples for a refresh. I'm very interested to find out!

What makes you think they didnt improve the cores?
The core count only increase by 15%, clock speeds are the same as last gen and RT performance has improved by 50-80% over last gen.
The extra cores accounts for a very small part of the improvement in RT performance, clock speeds didn't go up so that did nothing, the rest is all IPC from better cores, improvements to architecture like big MCM memory cache
