I'm all for chunky coolers but the 40 series is taking the ****, the GB 4090 OC is massive, when companies increase cooler size to make you think the price jump is worth it-the 3080 FE looks tiny in comparison!I don't have a problem with them using up the spare slots.
I do have a problem with the AIB partner cards being so long that it is difficult to fit them in the average case.
The FE 4090 has a length of 304mm which is fair enough, AMD have had cards that long for many years like the HD 5970.
The AIB cards where they are so much longer is a problem for PC cases that were never designed for it.
Noctua NH-D15, it's huge and sits close to the gpu, case is an Entho Primo, right now it fits 350mm gpus, so it should fit but as I said would be tight, could remove the HD cage then it's 500mm ish clearance for gpus.which cooler do you have that means you have to take it out to put in a gpu? The extra size is in the other direction isn't it?
ah yeah that's a big one. IIRC they did an offset version for AM4 boards that moved it away slightly. I just went for the NH-U14s for a bit less bulk. Seems to do the job tbh. I changed the fans for akasa ones that give better air flow and lower noise than the noctua high airflow onesNoctua NH-D15, it's huge and sits close to the gpu, case is an Entho Primo, right now it fits 350mm gpus, so it should fit but as I said would be tight, could remove the HD cage then it's 500mm ish clearance for gpus.
I had to remove my D-15 S to get my Aorus Master 4090 into my 500DX case.
The problem is that it has to clear the outer case at an angle, then once inside, rotate down to horizontal. The D15 blocks the diagonal part of the install.

FE? I must've missed itLooks like there’s still stock. I guess minimal demand when you can buy from stock a non FE card for the same price (£1599). Although you can buy family hatchback for that price too !
it was yesterday evening. I had one in the basket but then I checked my finances.FE? I must've missed it
Same, think the GB OC support bracket is longer than the card which would maybe mean taking the top bay out my case too.I had to remove my D-15 S to get my Aorus Master 4090 into my 500DX case.

While an easier fit, you'd need to remove your hd cage to fit a GB OC-it's 350mm with a support bracket going past 350mm.I love my case specs:
Maximum CPU Cooler Height 181.1mm Maximum Expansion Card Length 334mm (with HDD cage) / 487mm (with HDD cage removed)
card install is so simple with nothing to really get in the way once the side is off. Somewhere I have some install pics but this is the bare case
I had to bend the end of the bracket 90 degrees to get it to fit.Same, think the GB OC support bracket is longer than the card which would maybe mean taking the top bay out my case too.
Won't be long before you have to remove your case to fit your gpu onto your boardI've heard of removing CPU cooler fit ram but removing it to fit a GPU, lmao that's a new crazy
If Nvidia has learnt anything from 4000 series release, is not to have stock and trickle it down to create demand. It will no doubt be a paper launch to drive fomo while keeping prices nice and high. Not sure why people are complaining the 4090 is too big. IMO it's a good thing - means it's quiet and runs cooler.
Very happy with my 4090 Strix. Used daily for work/play since 13th of October, settled on a 350W profile (70% power target), quietest card I've used in years and had 0 issues.
Hope the 5000 launch is as good, stock on day 1 etc![]()
