That’s what I mean, you can’t say those two who were offside weren’t interfering with play for the free kick.

...If the ball had gone to those players (or the players they're marking) then they'd be offside. SO stick an attacking player on the post would only do anything if the ball went nowhere near them, so it's no advantage.
