Not the most exciting of races tbh but it is what it is, roll on Melbourne in a fortnight
2021 2008, 2007 maybe it's a rare sight though since I've watched. And slower is basically 0.1-0.2 max percentage points we're talking about.I love F1 but I'm going to bring up something I've said before. It's little to do with the drivers and almost everything to do with the cars. It doesn't really matter how good a driver you are. Sure, the occasional GP is won in slower cars under certain circumstances such as a car breaking down, a crash or bad team strategy. But if you don't have the fastest car you will never win a whole championship. In that respect, I think it's quite an unfair sport. Any one of those drivers today could drive a Redbull and win the championship. Who disagrees? Has any F1 WDC ever been won in any year by a driver without the fastest car?
But I always understood f1 to be about the constructors, ie the team.I love F1 but I'm going to bring up something I've said before. Aren’t most other teams saying there’s absolutely no way you can get 1-2secs per lap back through development. And RB ended up with what 6% less wind tunnel time at the end of it? That’s going to have little effect. It’s only a boring season if other teams don’t develop their cars. Also RB will have less development time.
Then their concepts are flawed.Aren’t most other teams saying there’s absolutely no way you can get 1-2secs per lap back through development. And RB ended up with what 6% less wind tunnel time at the end of it? That’s going to have little effect.
fast-forwarded most of the race. That safety car call was ridiculous. VSC at most surely?!

GPS was still showing the car on track, and they said they didn’t have a camera ready there to confirm position either. Definitely didn’t need to be a full SC.I wish they'd show us the recovery. I have no idea why that was a full safety when it looked like the car was already off the track - maybe they brought one of the fire rigs onto track or something? It was on fire briefly.
Yup, that's what I read too. Amateur hourIt was a VSC at most, but they explained it that back in control the GPS was indicating the car was still on track, so they called a full SC
As someone on Reddit said nicely in answer to that:Then their concepts are flawed.
Also means the teams agree that the minor RB overspend didn’t contribute to the dominance.
Because they are likely running more rear wing and draggier "visible" aero to make up for a deficit in a less developed floor than Red BullWhy isn’t the AT up there in straight line speed? Or is it? Madness…
Yes every team has been way above the board esp ferrariAs someone on Reddit said nicely in answer to that:
“I believe that their flagrant disregard for the rules time and time again is the reason why they're successful yes.”
RB have a history of dubious practices the whole time they’ve been in F1. We may all know about the overspend, but there’s always a lot more going on that we don’t know. It’ll be interesting to see what the other teams manage to uncover as the season goes on.
Edit: It just occurred to me that AlphaTauri use the same engine. So RB have somehow got 17mph on everyone else down the straights through aero alone? Why isn’t the AT up there in straight line speed? Or is it? Madness…
