Some products are good but support in case of issues is terrible. Their wheel cleaner that they sell randomly decided to leak out of their “wine box” container that the 5l ones come in and I messaged them to simply inform them and they promptly ignored me, messaged again to double check that I wasn’t doing anything odd and they’ve ignored me again. Wasn’t expecting a refund or anything but for this to randomly leak out in the garage after sitting there for a few weeks leak free is stupid. Ate away at my garage floor paint too.

Just great products.

No frills or random hype trains. They just work, are well priced, dilute well and are nice to work with.

Although I'm going to get the AF Lavish ceramic foam as it was recommended by a detailer I worked with on a long job and he moved it. Great protection from a spray on foam, love it.

With windscreen I've found I get streaks that are fine in the day but when weeing down at night it's hard to see through. Even not trying to spray it you get some on, so next time I'll give it some window cleaner after.

Cheers. That's what I did yesterday. Used glass cleaner on the front screen and then cleaned the wiper blades.

Decided to go for Water Block Super Spash (300g - £13.49) it’s apparently extremely easy to remove unlike some of their other variants which can be stubborn to remove.

The plann is to lay down a base coat of Fusso F7 followed by Water Block (It can be layered and this combination works well apparently)

I originally wanted to try King of Gloss as it’s known for it’s darkening/tinting effect of the paint but with it being slightly more expensive, less durable more difficult to remove I decided to give it a miss, perhaps a summer wax option.

For anyone wanting to try Fusso Coat F7 is available from ECP for £9.89 - It’s said to perform the same but with far easier application and removal just suffering with a decreased durability at 7 months instead of 12.

Helpful blog which covers Soft99 Waxes and which is suitable for you in a good amount of detail.

OLD post quote... But how did you find the Water Block? Fancy trying it myself as I need some new wax.

Think it comes down to what you are looking for from a Wax - I mainly wanted to see the water behaviour from this wax, the type of beading it achieved etc (All that sad stuff!)

It was fairly easy to remove, on some panels I did over apply and had some issues with stubborn residue around panel gaps but entirely down to user error, provided a thin layer is applied it was easy to remove.

I think it certainly left behind a nice finish, improved "Gloss" levels, the car became extremely reflective with an almost glass like feel to the paint, the slickness was un-believable.

Water Behaviour, well the name is not mis-leading it was extremely water repellent and left behind some incredible "Beads" which I often appreciate to see when returning to your car whilst 90% are just pooling :D

Durability - Hard to gauge as I did apply this product during the not so pleasant month's, salt seemed to eat away at it rather quickly on the lower panels but elsewhere it seemed to be holding up just fine.

Next "Full Detail" I plan to apply a base layer of Fusso Coat with Water Block on top to see how that looks, then when required i'll top up throughout summer with various spray wax/sealants.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Definitely looking for something with good hydrophobicity, rather than gloss properties or durability, so looking at this one rather than Fusso, Kiwami, KOG or some of the options from other brands.

Did a full detail late Spring last year with Autoglym HD, and have been topping that off every other maintenance wash with BSD. Autoglym HD has run out now though and can't bring myself to drop £50 on UHD. That combo still works well now, haven't washed it for 6 weeks/1.5k miles and still getting good beading on all but the lowest dirtiest panels.

Sounds like water block is worth a go, just gutted I missed the eurocarparts crazy clear out pricing. Did you have the dark or light variant?

I went for the Dark Version, believe Light to be for colours such as Silver, White etc.

The differences explained by Soft99
Waxes for DARK paintwork contain more fillers. Thanks to that, they more effectively hide little flaws which ruin the end-results. Paintwork reflects the light more evenly, which improves the shine and the mirror effect.

Waxes for LIGHT paintwork contain more cleaners, and sometimes even a really mild abrasive particles. They help to remove invisible residues and oxidation during application, and more effectively bring back the initial color of the light paintwork.

Certainly was a bargain, the tin will last absolutely years realistically.

You have a solid combo there, BSD is a great product the only draw back for me was how “Grabby” the paint felt afterwards.

I have never used Autoglym HD - I have heard mainly good things as a great all rounder but don’t think it’s particularly known for its incredible beads as such. I re-call Forensic Detailing revisiting this product and claiming for what appears to be “old tech” and a more or less unchanged product the price is rather steep compared to newer, synthetic waxes on the market.

i wish i took before and after photos

3 hours this morning on the car (more to do at some point!)

Engine bay cleaned - used the no hose method, sprayed under the hood with Surfex HD, then scrubbed it, then sprayed water over it to wash a lot of it away

then i sprayed entire engine bay area with Surfex HD
Gave it a good scrub then sprayed water over it all to wash dilute down, then grabbed a micro fibre cloth to dry
switched engine on and left running for 30 mins to hot and dry the rest off

Then i did the same pretty much on the rear end of the car, so all around the boot area where the hinges are etc

Then i spent time using Car Pro Eraser and a toothbrush to clean around all the black plastic and rubber seals around the boot area, back of the car and also the sides of the car and used Meguiars Ultimate Black to make them look fantastic again, what a transformation !
just the front to do now
 
Agreed, I've always used BH snow foam, Auto foam and now this, both are very good products.

Finished cleaning the car today after a full decon and polish last weekend. Quick wash down with some Hellshine Bane Blade and a few squirts of Autobrite Britegel on the wheels.

Brought it in the workshop for a coating of Autobrite Abyss and then a coat of Collinite 476s to top it off.

The paint is silky smooth and very glossy although it really needs a proper polishing as it has some scratches here and there.

Hey folks, is there anything you can suggest to apply to alloys which may reduce the amount of brake dust and other crud which adheres to them in order to keep them a little cleaner for longer after a wash?

My M340i has the Shadowline pack and black gloss alloys and they look filthy very quickly!!! Cheers!!!

Finally bought myself a Stubby Gun, went with Autobrite’s from ECP as it was inexpensive.

The above Stubby Gun is not compatible with Karcher “C Clip” hoses, I was convinced mine wasn’t this version but of course turns out it is.

Need a longer hose anyway so hoping I can find a replacement which works with my pressure washer and stubby gun :confused: Will do some research.

Gave the car a wash today, I hate cleaning wheels but finding the IK Foamer primarily for wheels only extremely useful.

Extremely soiled so I went in with Autobrite Purple Rain > Rinsed > Autobrite Brite Gel > Autobrite Citrus in the IK Foamer and then agitated… They came out spotless!



Finished the car off with AB Project 64.



I do miss the Indium Grey my GTD had rather than Limestone Grey, the latter appearing quite a light shade and has a brown tone to it in direct sunlight unfortunately but least it’s not white :D
