Some of that will be down to you being more efficient at burning those calories you do intake, as you get thinner you need less calories. If you stuck at 2000 eventually you would reach a stasis point and stop losing weight, at which point you need to cut more. Someone above mentioned it in passing the other day.... it gets harder to lose.
My problem is unhelpful family buying crap snack food and leaving it on the counter. All very well saying "you don't have to eat it" but it doesn't work like that!
