I've been away testing for a few days since getting the 7800X3D and I've just come back to the thread and it's interesting to read everyone's comments.
When I installed the 7800X3D, I went balls to the wall so to speak

and applied a new 1408 bios to my ASUS TUF Gaming X670E plus, curve optimization set to all core -25, and with the help of LtMatt, managed to dial in my memory settings.. It was achieving great FPS in
BF2042. - YouTube playlist..
But speaking as a rookie, I did too much too soon, without taking the time to methodically test overall system stability, as I was experiencing crashes where my system would grind to a halt and freeze during the most perfect game..
So back to square one. Everything set to default in 1408 bios again, except for EXPO enabled. Run this for a while to check stability and then apply changes bit by bit.
I now know what FPS I have been able to achieve. So that's a good tweaked baseline to build back up to.
I've got a few questions..
I tried the new Asus setting of ‘expo tweaked’, which seems to be a mix of Expo I and II. If anyone is struggling with Expo I it looks like a good option to try.
It took my Time Spy scores up compared to Expo II.
Time Spy score Expo II : 29,185
Time Spy score Expo Tweaked : 29,594
Time Spy GPU Expo II : 36,728
Time Spy GPU Expo Tweaked : 36,786
Time Spy CPU Expo II : 13,488
Time Spy CPU Expo Tweaked : 14,040
How's the stability? When I applied EXPO 2 or EXPO tweaked to my setup I just kept getting BSOD's.
The memory I have installed is:
Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5 6000 cl30 expo. SKU CMT32GX5M2B6000Z30K.
Anyone knows if we can claim Jedi: Survivor Game Bundle with the 7800x3d orders? As its not on the list, but in US, they are offering it.
I wrote directly to AMD rewards support to ask them the same thing on 13/04 and this was the reply I got.
"Unfortunately our AMD Radeon 7800X3D CPU is not an eligible processor for our current promotion.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Regards,
AMD Rewards Support"
Have they suddenly changed their mind? I hope so.
That's what mine hits without any manual OC.
Interesting. Have you applied EXPO settings?
