Will you be purchasing the 7800X3D on the 6th?

That's what mine hits without any manual OC.
I didn't check it before making the changes, but just so you know, curve optimizer with a negative offset is not a manual overclock. It's an undervolt so the temperature for a given clock is lower than stock.
Because 5050Mhz is the maximum stock clock boost, that's the maximum you can get to unless you do an actual eclk overclock or something.

So if your cooling is good and the cpu isn't a bad batch it will most likely reach 5050Mhz regardless, the undervolt just lowers the temperatures so it might stick to 5050Mhz for longer in this case.

So I got my 7800X3D yesterday and got it installed, everything seems to be working ok and still setting up drivers etc, however I noticed that the v-cache optimiser and PPM installed automatically. What's the best way to remove these, as I understand they're not good for the 7800X3D!
Is there anywhere that covers this info ?

Does anyone know if there is an issue with CPUID HWMonitor reporting clock speeds for the 7800x3D, or is my sample really hitting 5677Mhz without an overclock or optimisation?

Lucky lucky! Did you update it? Try CPU-Z also.
Yeah, it was updated yesterday to the latest version. I’ll run a few more test later with other monitors to see if it’s correct.

HW Monitors always been a bit buggy for me with ryzen, at one point i had a Ryzen 5 2600 that was reporting 6.5GHz, though obviously it wasn't doing that

That's a bit crazy, by any chance do you have any Motherboard vendor OC profile turned on?
I‘m using Expo II Tweaked with everything else at default. Yesterday the readings were relatively normal on my many tests (I noticed 3Dmark said I hit 5.3ghz but I assumed this was a blip too). I got these results today after running the cyberpunk benchmark. I’ll report back if I keep getting high readings on other monitoring tools.

tell us your secret sauce
:D In the CPU Profile test (https://www.3dmark.com/cpu/1191092) it apparently went to 5689mhz which is close to the results shown by hwmonitor today.

Theres nothing unusual about my system but it is:
X670E Hero - bios 1101
7800x3D
Noctua NH-U12A with Coolermaster MasterGel Pro
Kingston CL36 6000 64GB (32x2)
4090FE
Antec Signature Titanium 1000w PSU
Fractal Torrent Case

Motherboard settings are default apart from using “Expo II Tweaked”.

I’ve got a set of Kingston Fury C36 6000
so I’m going to try those see if it makes any difference. System is stable at 4800. But with the 7600x it was stable at 7000. With the 7800x3d it won’t even boot now on anything other than 4800.

Will also try again with the 7600x see if it makes any difference.
which version of corsair were you using, dominator or vengeance? was it listed as expo memory? is the working kingston listed as expo memory and were either/both listed compatable with the motherboard? i'm preparing myself for any headaches coming my way when i eventually install everything

Corsair is part number CMK32GX5M2D6000Z36 (Vengeance). Yeah it is Expo stuff, it works fine on Expo I and II with my 7600x in the same system. It’s only when I changed over to the 7800x3d that it started throwing up fault codes and wouldn’t boot. What strange is that it worked first time, I ran some benchmarks yesterday and then this morning the machine started throwing the errors and wouldn’t work. It obviously decided overnight to ruin my day.

The Kingston is KF560C36BBEK2-32 and that seems to be working OK on Expo Tweaked with the 7800x3d.

I believe the Kingston has slightly looser timings. Corsair stuff is 36-36-36-76, Kingston is 36-36-38-38.

Apparently my 7800x3d is a fussy one…!

uh oh well i also went for the hero board but with the dominator corsair.
i wonder if putting the corsair timings the same as your kingston would fix stability.
at least i might have a fallback option of the kingston if there's also problems so cheers for that!

Very possibly! But I have another AM5 system which I’ve put the 7600x in to and decided the Corsair aesthetically suits that motherboard better anyway. So maybe it all worked ok in the end haha. Although I haven’t actually started that machine yet so I’ve probably shot my self in the foot now…
