Distasteful vegan TV ad

Ok maybe that was a bit hyperbole of me! But unless serious action is taken then our ocean and sea life would be seriously compromised, hopefully it won't come to that.

But you're obviously aware of that and I agree is probably a bit more than we can cover here.

It's an interesting argument that eating fish causes less animal deaths than eating plant based options. I'd have to look into it further as there are still huge issues with fishing and its impact on the wider ecosystem, I wonder if the amount of unintended animal deaths can even be quantified

Also, I'm not sure if you could live healthily on a purely seafood diet, another thing to potentially look into.

But you've given me something to think about! :)

The issues will be huge and choice difficult. We might need a program of culling for ourselves and the erm… picky eaters might be ahead of the list.

Actually I don't think you are saying this.

If I had a plate of full of veg and then a plate of half veg and a fish, there would be a higher amount of animal deaths on the pure veg plate - depending on the method used to catch the fish of course which is the huge caveat here.

I said you don't care and are obviously triggered by facts, never mentioned intelligence.

lol, hidden camera footage is "propaganda" xD out of those 3 facts I stated, which are wrong?

How about the the RSPCA, are they vegan propagandists? https://www.rspcaassured.org.uk/farm-animal-welfare/egg-laying-hens/what-is-chick-maceration/
isn't there a whole range of RSPCA assured food? am sure I saw it on the package of some of the Aldi stuff I bought. however you are making a false argument however as looking g on your other posts you have just as much vitriol against ANY meat eaters or even vegetarians it seems. so you making out if people buy eithically sourced meat then they are ok is a lie (from you..... others not so much)
people abusing animals is illegal. if you have proof it is happening at a specific company in this country you need to report them, if you tell me burger king source their meat from illegally mistreated cows but McDonald's are RSPCA assured hypothetically for instance that is info I could perhaps work with and change my eating habits accordingly .

but a video of an un named company breaking the law is no more helpful to me than telling me a company may be claiming to sell organic vegetables or vegetarian foods whilst secretly lying but not telling me which company it is.
oh and I don't. need to see a video of animal abuse thanks. but just a reputable article naming and shaming is fine. I know how legal animal farming works and am okish with it.

one thing which does scare the hell out of me. this government is intent on relaxing our food standards, when if anything we should be going the other way. compared to many countries our animal husbandry esp when transporting is really good but it will get worse of government have their way.
this is more than (but including) animal treatment but also safety.

Are you denying these terrible things happen to animals?

No I dont. These things are not meant to happen. Unscrupulous people do unscrupulous things but my choices are not going to be dictated because of this.

I already asked you but you haven't answered - do you eat avocados? You can say no, as long as it's being honest

I'm not triggered by facts nor have I denied that it unfortunately happens (see above)

You're struggling with reading TBH. I said you are "posting links from.prpaganda websites". Are you denying the fact that, until your link to the RSPCA below, your previous stuff has all come from sites with an agenda?

BTW - the RSPCA is not without controversy or being politically motivated themselves.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...d-promises-to-be-less-political-a7029206.html

Again, you seem to be confused about what I am posting. I haven't argued that bad stuff doesn't happen (see start of this post above). I have argued that some of the posting methods in here are atypical of militant vegans and THIS is the issue I take....remember this post?

Also, and I have said this a few times when this whole vegan/meat argument comes up - if you want to be a vegan then go do it, I couldn't care less, it's your choice. However, given that I don't sit and hurl abuse or attempt emotional blackmail or name calling to people that want to be Vegan, is it unreasonable for me to expect vegans to do the same to meat eaters?

Why can't you just leave people to make their own legal and widely accepted choices? Who are you, and your ilk, to demand people to change with your vitriol, activism and propaganda?

Also, and I'm not sure if it's deliberate avoidance or you are just too interested on trying to make your point that you fail to see it, I have asked a couple of questions and you have failed to answer them.

I'll make it easy and post them again:

1. What is your own practical experience of agriculture? "viewing" a pig operation"? What exactly do you mean and is this the full extent of your own practical experience?

2. Do you eat avocados? - you can say no, as long as it's honest.

Care to answer them?

But our oceans will be practically barren by 2050 and that's just if we continue on the projected path. And that's not just because we are removing the fish we eat, the whole ecosystem suffers, not to mention the impact of plastic in the sea, the majority of which comes from the fishing industry.

I just don't think there is an argument for replacing land based crop farming with seafood, especially as it's struggling so much with current demand?
this is very true. part of it is waste tho. only a limited number of fish are considered economically worth catching so tons of perfectly viable food is dumped back into the sea dead. I won't lie I am part of the problem. I only like white fish myself (tho more than just cod at least)

the top and bottom of it (like housing) the planet is over populated. (note this isn't some fear of boats right wing nonsense , I am talking the planet not people migrating from X to Y) IF mass food production stopped over night this includes meat but also the industrial level of fertilisation in soil as well for crops, the simple fact is our land could not support us.
I won't lie. if humans were any other species we would be desperately in need of a mass culling. I am not volunteering however ;)

I'm carnivore/zerocarb, I only eat animal products. I keep chickens and ducks and eat their eggs and them. The market I go to slaughter the pigs on site and will let you watch if you get there early enough. None of this bothers me in the slightest.

That's an easy one, its because you lack empathy

No, it's because I've tried being vegan and it made all my health problems worse. I've come to terms with the fact that humans are carnivores, are supposed to live as carnivores and that I would rather be around for my children than die of a heart attack to save a few animals.

well this doesn't change the fact that watching an animal being killed doesn't bother you in the slightest

Its not a few bad apples, the entire orchard is rotten, (most animals are factory farmed) if it was the occasional farm there would be barely any footage available of animals being abused and neglected but this isn't the case.

Yes of course animal rights activists have an agenda, the agenda is to expose what goes on in animal agriculture so people can make informed choices, you wont see pictures of pigs being suffocated on packs of bacon will you because that might blow apart the "humane slaughter" myth that's been allowed to spread.

RSPCA is actually a worthless organisation, they care about cats and dogs, I only posted it because it was a way of getting some of the truth to you with you crying about "agendas".

I dont know how many times I have to say this, its not a personal choice when there's a victim, billions of victims in fact, trillions if we include fish and other marine life.

I bet you havent even watched the documentary I posted.

Being vegan is more than what you eat, its your clothes and cosmetics as well. Its not a diet.

Humans are carnivoes? lol wat. No, were technically omnivores.

I only posted that because its not a vegan website thus couldn't be accused of bias, but the RSPCA is worthless, they only care about cats and dogs otherwise they wouldnt be approving the gassing/maceration of baby animals would they....

Again, how do you "ethically" cut off an animals head?

They do get reported to the organizations like Red Tractor, sometimes they pull suppliers like Lidl did with this recent investigation, but the place wont be shut down.

Then there's this, horrendous abuse of cows, but the slaughterhouse was given the green light by the FSA despite the guy not stunning cows properly and cutting their heads off while some were still conscious.

So at some point you have to say what good are these so called "assurance schemes" because they mean nothing to the victims really.

Humans are carnivores yes. You can do whatever you want but the optimal diet for a human being is meat.
A meat based diet cures diabetes, obesity, heart disease etc. etc.

Consuming large amounts of vegetables only really came about a couple of thousand years ago, for most of our history we've subsisted on predominantly meat.

You only have to walk down the street to see what a diet containing large amounts of plant products does to the human race.

lmao, probably the most absurd comment out of the pages i've bothered to read, well done, thanks for the laugh anyway.

Bet you have a poster of Paul Saladino on your wall. Considering most people you see walking down the street will be eating processed meat, you've just played yourself. xD

Oh btw, citation needed on this extrodinary claim that meat cures diseases.

Rspca marks and the like aren't really worth much. Intensive farming is cruel. There's no getting away from that.

People sit at different points, some people know and don't care, others kind of feel bad, but turn a blind eye to it, some people reduce and that's good enough for them.
Some people go all the way.

Its Interesting reading the views in here. It's no different to what you can expect from a vegan vs meat eater thread.

I do find it odd that some people seem to think/pretend that factory/intensive farming isn't that bad for animal welfare. Because that is delusional.
If people accept a certain level or cruelty is OK, I kind of accept that more. As it is, at least, the truth.

Maybe people get antsy about it as they know its bad, we generally like to think. Of ourselves as good/animal lovers.. So being presented with the real life situation of eating factory farmed animals feels like an attack? So. Reasons to bypass accepting cruelty are reached for?
