Distasteful vegan TV ad

Livestock require massive quantities of plant-based feed to produce a relatively small amount of meat. This results in the cultivation of many more crops to feed animals, leading to a greater overall land requirement compared to directly growing crops for human consumption.

Therefore, if your concern is minimizing animal deaths, opting for a plant-based diet would be the better choice.

That was not the point of the post... A counter to a previous post was to copy and paste a quote stating that vastly more Soya is used to I'm animal feed than human feed therefore the wild animal deaths attributed to this goes towards the meat industry.

I simply responded with my own copy/paste effort using a well known vegan food source that is NOT used in animal feed to counter it...

I have no concern about minimising animal deaths as I like eating meat. I enjoy the taste and the texture of it.

Also, and I have said this a few times when this whole vegan/meat argument comes up - if you want to be a vegan then go do it, I couldn't care less, it's your choice. However, given that I don't sit and hurl abuse or attempt emotional blackmail or name calling to people that want to be Vegan, is it unreasonable for me to expect vegans to do the same to meat eaters?

Yeah but our oceans could be empty in 25 years if current demand follows predictions, it's just not sustainable and certainly couldn't be used as a replacement for plant based foods? Unless I missed your point?

You was talking about morality and animal deaths. We will all be in big trouble in 25 years anyway. Lots of animal deaths are coming humans include, but crop farming isn’t a clean business at all.

Beating animals to death would be illegal.

Sick piglets are killed by smashing them into the ground, in other words, beaten to death.

88% of 5 months old pigs are "stunned" in gas chambers, baby male chickens are ground up alive in the egg industry, male calfs are killed at just days old in the dairy industry.

You've no idea what happens in animal agriculture clearly, and I'm not surprised, they don't want people to know these things.

Neither do you farmer Johno.

No, but my point was that crops going directly to humans causes less animal deaths than the crops being required for animal feed.

Then I was trying to point out that fishing isn't even a possible alternative (even if this causes less death than both the above) as it's not a sustainable solution.

Sorry I hope that makes sense it's been a long day!

^^^^ this is the crap I'm talking about... let's try and use emotionally charged or attempted shock tactics as a crutch because my argument can't stand on its own merits.

What's your practical agricultural experience?

That is a completely morally bankrupt statement.

In your opinion... You forgot to add that bit because, after all, it IS only your opinion.

@lovelyhead @Johno please? Do things like Avocados form part of.your diet at all?

We have plenty of plentiful fish species. No of those require chemicals to process and huge areas of land requiring intensive management.
