That lut remover and auto hdr is great isn't it! :D  PS. You need to use both for best results really as the lut does add some black crush but the hdr resolves this. Also, make sure windows hdr calibration is done since auto hdr uses this.

This is why oled gamers are ****** of as they are missing out on this with the default settings:

The issue is if they did offer more detailed textures that used 12GB~16GB of VRAM,there will be moaning from PCMR about 8GB cards not working at Ultra settings. But now people are realising for larger games with more varied environments it would be useful to have additional options on top,and I am saying that as a person with an 8GB VRAM dGPU.

He doesn't like the console orientated duck and roll type of combat, because he used to design custom maps for games like Quake in the 90s(IIRC). Witcher 3 is the same and he didn't like it. I can find that combat style annoying, but OTH I didn't like the combat system in the Mass Effect series either and still thought they were great games.

There are various ways they could have optimised for this though (loads of open world games are out there with relatively low vram usage [as in doesn't need 16/24GB and even then, still run pretty well on 8gb gpus] that have stunning textures e.g. me andromeda, days gone, witcher 3 remake, rdr 2, cp 2077 just to name the few) but being beth, that isn't their strong point let alone using their engine....

e.g.

- reduce LOD distance (already poor as is though....)
- have it so that only what you're looking at is being loaded/rendered in
- copy and paste assets, bit like with days gone, the older FC games, textures are incredibly detailed but you notice how often they are reused

I'm noticing a lot of copy and paste on assets/objects as it is though so they could have easily done better all round here. I would say what I have seen so far doesn't even deserve the 4-5GB vram usage.

Essentially all comes down to that **** engine and probably some incompetence.

But then when the majority of the pc market are on <-8GBs gpus (iirc it's like 80+% according to steam), it's not surprising to see why they have gone the way they have.

Have been a little disappointed with some of the dialogue and it not registering that I'd already done or seen something in the verse. Think I've become spoilt with pen&paper rpgs and BG3 :D

Trying not to accept too many missions so I am not overwhelmed with them. I just go for ones that sound the most fun for me.

Wont be doing any until I fully explore NA however which may take some time. I mean it took me like 5-6 hours just on Kreet and that was a moon

It is brilliant. Anyone with a half decent HDR monitor should get this. Helps a lot. Why oh why did they not just sort out HDR themselves. Would make graphics look so much better that alone.

Stupidly, I went exploring rather than going straight to New Atlantis, now I just cannot get clearance to land there. I have tried everything, but I cannot get the scan to allow clearance to land. I have tried sitting in the jump seat, I have built outposts, I have almost completed Jemison!!!

Any ideas?

The only part that is poor for me is the space combat bits. Every single encounter starts with multiple enemy ships pointing their guns at you. A totally worthless mechanic that adds nothing to the game.

Still deciding whether I install this on the PC or Xbox. Leaning heavily towards PC for the mods though.

Can see it ain't running so great at the minute, but I guess that's to be expected...

Playing as is on 21:9 monitor perfectly fine, only the bigger ultra giga wide 32:9 ones that have issues.

Have tried to stay out of this thread as not wanting any spoilers but have a question for those that using ultrawide monitors. Since I seen there is no FVV slider in the game, are you playing as is or using one of the many FOV mods over at Nexus, and if so, which one is the best to use ? I have the Dell 38" Alienware AW3821DW if that matters.

That been said, after watching worth a buy's review, I found it pretty eye opening that is it just a fast travel simulator, but tell me a game which isnt now? Ive come to expect all AAA games with a "open world" is just fast travel spam, Go some place once and then never have to travel there again. It's a bit heart breaking really, i would have loved them to actually make a game where you had at least get back to your ship to enable the fast travel, or just in orbit maybe.

There's no way round the 'fast travel mechanic' or 'one visit and done' with a game this big and this early on. Without it the game would be a huge chore and drag. That level of simulation is better served by MMORPGs

Have you got a bounty against you?

Not been like that for me, only where I jump into a specific battle or groups hunting me. Plenty of times seeing in distance not engaging then sneaking up to them on low power flight.

It's really really crap.

I'm enjoying the game so far, but I really dislike the space combat, it feels so watered down and pointless - there's just nothing in it, just feels like your moving a cursor around a screen - totally rubbish.

I am enjoying the rest of the game, but I'm trying to avoid as much as the space combat as possible...

That does look so much better, is there a guide for this? I haven’t installed a mod for any game in about ten years so I haven’t a clue.

No use having a shiny new OLED only to have the blacks appear washed out. Such a ridiculous decision on Bethesda’s part.

Can you explain how to do this? Not used to modding games!

Just follow the instructions, very easy, 5 minutes top.

This is on gamepass version so not sure if the hdr thing will work for steam version
