It's more about a good construction of the PSU than a really high number.
I have a 5800x3d, 32gb ram, about 3ssd, 2 nvmes, 2 HDD, 5 fans, cooler of the cpu ( 6th) and a 4080. All runs well from a 525w PSU.

Of course, if you'd run a power hungry cpu, you should scale the power supply accordingly.

Years of being a Nvidia diehard has Jensen nagging away at the back of my mind but going Radeon for the first time in over 15 years is rapidly fading him from my thoughts. I have no problem simply picking the best value to performance proposition from either company, Nvidia is not a shoo-in now.

One thing to keep in mind is that PhyisX ON also brings in extra work for the GPU to render besides the physics, while with it OFF doesn't even bother to render "something".

In the meantime, Alan Wake runs great and looks pretty good - from a fog/volumetric perspective, even today.

Sounds like you're trying to convince yourself more than anything. We all know Nvidia are way ahead. It is just the reality unfortunately.

AMD just keep on playing catch up. I would not even mind if they priced their cards with this in mind. Instead they would have us believe their cards are premium.

As for Jensen or Lisa and all that diehard crap, who cares. I don't take any of that into account when buying.

Yup it's crazy people who buy or won't buy certain products because of CEOs/company morales, laughable in all honesty. You buy what works best for your needs and your budget, as simple as that. Unfortunately nvidia have locked me into their feature set now and until AMD can compete on this front, unfortunately they won't be an option for me. If I where buying low to mid end i.e. 7600/4060, I would probably go AMD but if buying mid to flagship end i.e. 4070-4090, nvidia are ahead here.

Like I said in the other thread, control panel/drivers was supposedly a big pro for going amd (still don't get it but whatever...) but now that nvidia are working on that and arguably beating amd at it (works and looks nicer imo), it probably won't even be an important factor to acknowledge going forward.

This gen both amd and nvidia have taken the **** though with dodgy shifting of tiers and pricing hence why I'm still running the 3080, that and not enough games to justify the extra price/grunt of a 4080/4090 yet...

Right, that's it, got my bonus letter from work - I've had enough of waiting and am just going to get a 4080 Super and done with it because I have a big list of games I want to play. I'll upgrade CPU/mobo etc a bit down the line but I'm sure I'll be fine for now.

What AIB should I consider? I've always bought MSI but for something so expensive I'd prefer someone with a decent RMA track record. Gigabyte have UK RMAs but I'm seeing worrying things about them.

One of the best GPU's, also backed by 5 year UK RMA warranty reg'd via website :cool:

Yeah it's a stunning looking game. It's also one of the best engines/games for vram management as DF/Alex evidenced with the buffer management system they implemented, although there is a lot of copy and paste of assets which somewhat becomes quite obvious the more you play, reminded me of days gone here.

I would recommend using DLSS balanced over FSR 3 even at the highest quality preset as the IQ is better as per usual (you also don't get the issues with the UI/HUD elements which is very distracting) as well as avoiding random weird frame pacing issues.

Make sure you switch out the DLSS preset for preset C though as the default preset D has ghosting issues.

Best thing for me about Avatar is that it bodes well for how good The Division 3 will look in a couple of years or so :cool:

Game itself for me looks boring.

4090 and the AW3225QF is a stunning combo!

Sometimes you have to try things to realise what was good in the first place.

I did the same 6800xt > 3090 > 3080 > 7900xt > 7800xt so came back full circle and am happy finally with my performance tier.

Long story with all the changes. Life, money problems (7900xt sold for cash flow) etc. but I’m finally at peace.
