Fallout TV series being developed by Amazon

The guy that plays Maximus, I kept thinking 'Have they cast Denzel Washington and used CGI to make him look younger?'
He kinda reminds me of a budget Jonathan Majors, but I can see the Denzel similarities too.
I don't think his faceshape is Denzel like just some of his features

Never played any of the games nor know anything about the story of Fallout and currently, i'm three episodes in and generally confused.
I get the gist, kind of, but so far, there doesn't appear to be a huge amount of explanation going on fleshing it out for us 'normies', it's as if this is season 2 or 3 of a show rather than the start.
Currently deciding whether to give the next episode a watch as i'm definitely finding it a bit of a slog at the moment :(

What don't you understand? Perhaps we can explain it to you.

So it's an alternate future, which looks like 50's era Americana, but there is a mixture of retro and futuristic tech (black and white CRTs and floating robots)

China and America go to Nuclear war.

'Vaultec' had installed numbered vaults all over the country, to sustain populations. The 'lucky' humans who were given Vaultec places have been under the impression that the outside world is too radiated to be able to live in so have been confined to the vaults.

But 291 years later, that is not actually the case and humanity has survived. There are various factions vying to control what is left of the country.

The commonwealth, the Enclave, New Republic etc.

Vaultec also actually ran weird experiments on different vaults populations. Not entirely sure why.

This is all from memory and having only watched episode 1 of the TV series

4 episodes in
Really enjoying it

Some of the CGI is ropey like
seems to be everything these days.

Even the expanse has loads of ropey CGI if you watch it on 4k on youtube.

Most of the space scenes look like a pc game with high quality textures.
I bet they cheap out with adobe after effects and some pc game engine.

get the AI to do it already, why is it so important so save the jobs around the wealthy, but poor people are so easily replaced with no thought.

I explained everything to the missus as we watched it. As you say it is highly confusing if you do not get what is going on.

Maybe it will explain a lot more the further you go in. We only done 2 episodes so far.

I know nuking the NCR was an option in Lonesome road... but uh is it canon now? I guess that also implies that Mr House may have won as well since that (imo) offers the most interesting story.

Shouldn't the brotherhood be dead though or have they somehow resettled the West from the Vegas Bunker (questionable if House wins for obvious reasons)/East faction?

Doesn't this series predate events from NV?

Indeed. Time to upgrade your monitor to 4K

No need, I have a 180" HDR10 laser projector and a 65" OLED TV
