How much better is the ps5 pro in HZD remaster and Forbidden West when playing in performance mode. Want to play these games again and did notice on my PS5 that the resolution drop in certain areas of FW was noticeable when playing on 65" tv from about 7 feet away. All the comparison videos only show the easy environments and there's very little difference. Anyone actually played the games on ps5 and ps5pro and noticed a big difference?

It's 38.752% better.

It's better but not dramatically, depends how sensitive you are to resolution and aa, for me I never really got on with the aa on the base ps5 horizons but I find it much better on the Pro.

The HZD Remaster is a looker on the Pro that’s for sure.

The Pro is not a massive leap but it is an improvement in performance and visuals generally, but it can be subtle with games that already look and play great on the PS5, apart from a few games where PSSR isn’t implemented as well as it could be.

After I sold my games and my PS5 I saw it as a £350 upgrade, much like a new graphics card (although a lot cheaper to do!) and for the 30%-40% boost (or whatever it is in the real world) it feels like it was worth it to me.

I’ve not played everything but the best upgrades I’ve seen so far are Dragon Age: Veilguard - which I was already into on the OG PS5 - and then The Last of Us Remastered which a have played to death already.

Watching one of my in-cockpit GT7 replays the other night I was thinking ‘do you know what, how good do we need it to look? This is bloody incredible as it is’. You do need a good OLED with VRR. That’s the sweet spot to get the most out of it, I feel.
 
I've played a few games on the pro now and I'm struggling to see any differences, but then I feel like some of these games didn't actually look bad in the first place.
Certainly not the kind of leap I expected judging from some of the more 'passionate' fans and still far far behind PC, but that is to be expected for the price. Also, the upscaling tech is clearly infantile still and it will probably be better utilised by other Devs in future.

I do however like to try things for myself rather than speak about things I have no experience with, so I'm glad I tried it I guess just to confirm my suspicions. The main issue with it is that apart from like one game (Astrobot) I know I can play all the games available on it better already. I was impressed though with the amount on offer with the PlayStation plus catalogue.
If anyone is after one keep an eye out in the MM for a 'cheap' one soon ;)

I think with the Pro the graphic improvements are subtle at best in most cases, that might change with future releases as developers make better use of what’s there, but for me the difference is in smoothness, the consistency to run games at a higher FPS with more graphic options enabled where the Pro allows it.

Yes, games run way better on my PC (for 3-4x the cost) but it’s nice not to be sat behind the PC (I hybrid work) all day, with work and gaming. And it’s nice to play some games on the bigger TV screen with HDR (guess I also know my next monitor upgrade) like HZD and TLoU without thinking about playing at 30FPS, then there’s the exclusives like AstroBot and GT7.

So all in all I’m happy with my Pro upgrade, even if I do shudder at the thought of what the next gen of consoles will cost now that Sony like Nvidia know gamers will still buy them at an inflated rate and that’s before Trump increases tariffs on imports which I’m sure will hit gamers along the line.

I totally get that and that is why I play my PC games not behind the desk as well ;)
Choice is good of course, and it's nice there are options for most tastes nowadays. I mean some crazy people actually like 30fps fidelity mode.

As a side note, I really wish I could enjoy the Spider-Man games because I had a quick zip around on miles Morales and it's a very good Christmas game.

Just finished Spiderman and it's DLC, I thought it was a very good game and the story was better than I initially thought it would be. You might make an argument that over time the gameplay/combat get's repetitive, but I found there was enough variation to keep me playing. Not tried Miles Morales yet, before I start on that I want to give another game I try for variety.

The world, lighting and general crispness/resolution of the presentation is really great. It’s really rather good. It’s let down by the character conversations etc being quite stiff and PS4 ish in 90% of scenes though. I also found the sound was a bit off, but perhaps that’s been fixed now in a patch. (Incidental music playing when nothing had happened etc)
 
Finally.. I FINALLY finished Final Fantasy 7 Remake.. After 35hrs. I should have finished this months ago before getting the PS5 Pro!

I really enjoyed it, despite it being an absolute onslaught of boss fest after boss fest in the later chapters.

I was kinda annoyed earlier last week, though, as I hit rest mode partway through a boss fight where I couldn't save to attempt it the next day. Came back to my PS5 Pro a day later and the game had closed due to applying an update, and therefore I lost my progress. Quite annoying that the PS OS will just go ahead and force quit a title which was open before rest mode to perform an update. I am thankful though that FF7 Remake's update wasn't a PS5 Pro Patch game, that late in playing it would annoy the hell out of me.

Just fired up Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth with my Japan purchased discs, straight to Options/Display/Versatility Mode... it's not even funny how much better it looks! Just wow! My poor PS5 Pro has spent the last few weeks not even breaking a sweat with FF7R!

Good to see Cerny say they are looking to add frame generation to the PS5 Pro, it should help a lot with that weak cpu


IMO the ps5 pro is a bit weak and should have been at least double the performance of the base system instead of just the 50% extra performance they delivered; however if they can add frame generation in then that should be very helpful and I will reconsider buying the machine

I'm afraid framegen will only help if the console can run a game at circa 60fps, if they attempt to do what Wukong does -> big input delay. It's only usable if the base framerate isn't too much below 60fps, unless they have some magic tech.

The Pro is not even 50% faster than the base console, especially with the PSSR overhead.

Buuut... it is moving in the right direction. AW2 now has a 40fps RT mode (and you get a PSSR toggle), something I've said devs should be focusing on more and now it's actually happening. Plus, the console is already discounted at local stores around here so good for me:p

I hope the trend continues and there are more meaningful upgrades along the way.
