I would say nvidia will squeeze a little more out of it over time through drivers, the small uplift this gen will put them on a little pressure there.
Improvements over time with drivers? Sure you aren't talking about AMD FineWine
TM?
Also, I've been trying to figure out the rough power draw/power efficiency on these new cards (i.e. would one need to upgrade their PSU to run one of these?).
We saw from CES that 9070 XT has either 2x8 pin on the Powercolour Reaper or 3x8 pin on the Powercolour Red Devil.
7900XT using 2x8pin pulls close to the TDP of 315W on average (according to KitGuruTech's review).
Meanwhile the 7900XTX using 3x8pin pulls close to its 355W TDP on average (also according to that same review).
AIB cards probably draw more power and we've seen from CES that the AIB cards for 9070 XT can be either 2 or 3 8-pin power connectors.
Supposedly with 2x8 pin, the max possible power draw should be ~375W and for 3x8 pin max possible power draw should be ~525W.
So I'm guessing 9070 XT between a 7900XT and a 7900XTX for power draw then? Especially as the Red Devil 7900XT supposedly only uses 2x8 pin power.
Meanwhile it looks like Nvidia aren't fussing as much with power efficiency this time with 5000 series.
I'd prefer a 2-slot card with 2x8 pin to be able to run on a 750W PSU. But I guess good reviews will show power draw and also power spikes to know how a PSU can handle such GPUs.
