Alienware announces the AW2725DF and AW3225QF (worlds first 4k 240hz and worlds first 1440p 360hz QD-OLED monitors - launches January 2024)

Ok I fixed the monitors 'nits' issue.

Windows now reports 1000 nits.

Should auto HDR be on or off in windows?

(P.s I have no idea how RTX HDR works also)
Auto HDR is really for SDR games that don't support HDR natively same goes for RTX HDR, maybe one is better than the other but i leave them off.

You can always experiment with them both if you have an older game that doesn't support HDR.

Another W11 24H2 problem with my Asus monitor is that it doesn't wake up again after windows sleep/screen off
This only happens when using the HDMI connection and you have the W11 24H2 update installed

Worth checking to see if this problem also effects the alienware monitor when connected by HDMI

My work laptop is via HDMI but on Win10, OPC is via DP though so can't check that as all my cabling is routed^^

Thinking of picking up the Alienware AW2725DF while it's down to £543. If anyone has any codes going it would be much appreciated

Oh right, can't I've experienced those issues with my panel. Had it almost a year now.
Also flicker is more of an oled 'thing' with vrr rather than an issue with this monitor but even saying that when I used to run vrr I barely noticed any flicker

I get flicker with my samsung freesync 144hz monitor

Is that because I'm not able to send it a stable 144hz?

Im considering the Alienware AW3225QF. Should I be concerned about text clarity and leaving it on the desktop too long like I do my IPS Acer X34 screen?

Comparing it with a similar IPS panel like the mini LED Acer Predator X32 Fbpmiiiiphuzx the clarity looks pretty similar and the rating on the Alienware is better

Plus its OLED and higher refresh rate.

The other I looked at is the Gigabyte AORUS FO32U2P - https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/gigabyte/aorus-fo32u2p

There's a side by side comparison here - https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tool...w3225qf-vs-gigabyte-aorus-fo32u2p/46677/49896

Should I be bothered that the Alienware only has Display port 1.4 instead of DP 2.1 on the AORUS?

If we are talking vrr flicker then it'll be because of the fluctuations in frame rate.
Is vrr flicker only a thing on OLED?
Why does the monitor refresh rate not fall in like with the fps on this demo?

I commented the following

This is my current screen - Gsync down to 20 fps, you can see the monitor refresh rate in the upper right corner

I'm not sure entirely @mrk will know more.

I will say that since owning the monitor since August 2024 I've only really experienced proper VRR flicker in one game so far. (Silent Hill 2)

I would have thought that even then the gysnc on the monitor should have helped but it seems like it didn’t.
