Do you like where you live?

Most people won't have much of a metric to use as a gauge. Many might find where they are just "ok", but don't really know if it's actually considerably better or worse than an average ok compared to many other places.
 
Currently up in Irvine south of Glasgow, not really got anything specifically bad about it, walk for a couple of minutes and you're in the countryside basically, 30-40 minutes and you're in Glasgow for whatever you could want, 10-15 minutes and there's a retail park with most things covered but we are looking to move mostly due to space but we're currently very undecided as to where we'll end up, one of the potential downsides of mostly remote work is it doesn't limit where you can live as much!
 
I live in Surrey and I'd really love to move somewhere quiet in the middle of nowhere but unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to move because of personal, financial and medical reasons. Living in Scotland or northern England would be great and a hell of a lot cheaper.
 
Yes.

Suffolk / Cambridgeshire border. Pretty village with nice community. Still close enough to civilisation. Good school.

Negatives: No mountains. Too far from sea.
 
Yes I love where I live, large town but 5 mins to the Shropshire countryside, 10 mins walk to town centre, good schools, tons of independent shops, pubs, coffee shops, restaurants etc easy to get to the city by train for anything "bigger"
 
Well yes it's stunning and very quiet, one community shop one pub and I have the camel trail next to me so can cycle to Padstow
I like that cows and sheep and horses just wander around the streets , full on rural but 20/30 min drive to good beaches

Unless it's changed drastically in the last 10 years or so since my mum moved from St. Aidens Terrace, get off the train at Birkenhead Park and walk up past the parks on Ashville Rd, it's lovely compared to other parts of the city!
 
Lol... Birmingham.

Council is a joke, put up council tax by a ridiculous amount whilst simultaneously failing to provide even the most basic services.
Most of the people are ****, with no respect for their surroundings or other people (there's litter and dog **** everywhere).
The level of crime and anti-social behaviour seems to be on an upwards spiral.
90% of people got their driving licence from a cereal box.

Feel like I'm on the edge of going full on "Falling Down" on a daily basis :cry:

Hopefully a move to rural Wales is on the cards in the next couple of years; just trying to pay off as much of our mortgage as possible before our fix ends :)
 
I was going to reply to this thread to say that I love living my best #vanlife, touring the Mediterranean coast, waking up by the beach where I go to eat my activated almonds and charcoal granola breakfast, followed by 15 minutes meditation, filling in my gratitude diary, and posting a motivational quote on insta.

But I don't do any of that because it sounds like a load of horse ****. So I won't post that as my reply.

Yes I really like where I live and my life.
In the 10 years I've had CCTV I've only been asked by the Police 10 times for potential footage and that was for the same house 5 times who have now gone so it's not a bad area.
Also for me we have a great local music scene.
 
As far as living in the UK goes, yes - Devon is awesome for a variety of reasons and I'd not want to live anywhere else on this overcrowded little island.
 
@Junglist yeah the ‘Orpheus’ is the little Cinema near the Waitrose, it’s quite cute! We do tend to go to Cribbs for our regular movie watching.

I’m not sure what the art battle is but it sounds fun!!
 
Yes, my village is quiet, in the Wiltshire countryside, and feels incredibly safe. It has a community like I've never known anywhere else (outside specific military contexts), a great primary school linked with the church next door, a secondary school of similarly high standards, barber, post office and pubs.

Ah I may have you mixed up with someone else from Bristol! Think it was Russinating who is also from Bristol and went to one of the Art Battles.

It was basically an event where artists get i think 30 minutes to create a bit of art on a canvas with 2 heats. She ended up winning and used that as a kick to dive into her art as an alternative career. She's doing pretty well and has been hosting sip and paint nights at a few places around Bristol

Sadly all of my hobbies drain our money and hers makes it :cry:

certainly not overcrowded everywhere, chunks of the UK are rather dead. Cant even get a bus where I am lol
